Do You Know This Moron?

So you know, that is the National War Memorial this asshole is urinating on.

Asshole urinating on War Memorial

Morons like this should be strung up by their eyelids and kicked in the balls until they blink. I think if someone knows anyone who wears a tan belt with bell bottom blue jeans and white bowling shoes they should give this guy a good swift kick in the teeth.

People need to take their kids by the hand at a young age and teach them what this memorial represents. I’ve done it every Canada Day we spend downtown with my kids and will continue to do so until they get it.

ADDENDUM The CBC had pictures of two more assholes. I took screenshots and have cropped them into this blogpost. I am willing to bet that these guys have probably bragged to friends about their accomplishments. These guys shouldn’t be too hard to find. Someone has to know who they are or was with them on this night.

Asshole 3 urinating on War Memorial 2006
Asshole 2 Urinating on War Memorial

Simply one of the saddest displays of Canadianism I have heard of. These guys wre obviously not down on Parliament Hill to celebrate Canada’s birthday, but probably just there for the party and concert. If you ever have the urge to go to Parliament Hill for A Party and not THE PARTY, don’t bother. I am sure the majority of Canadians would prefer you just stay home, get drunk there and piss in your toilet or your pants when you pass out.

Assholes. I hope your friends see these photos and razz you until you go down to the local Legion and scrub their toilets for a few weeks as a way to apologize for your disrespect and disgrace.

Re-Aim Traffic Cameras At Gas Station Price Boards

Today while heading out to meet a friend for a GST reduced Tim Horton’s coffee, I heard Ron Corbett of the Ottawa Citizen on CFRA talking about the fact that five provinces now have some sort of control over the price of gas. He was looking for people to call in with their opinions so I decided to make the call.

I told Ron that I would rather get a fair shake with supply and demand. Microeconomics 101. Setting prices will create shortages or surplusses.

I then suggested we take all the traffic cameras lining the highways and aim them at gas station price boards. It would not take long before collusion was easily proved and irrefutable. A simple analysis of any gas stations tanker purchases cross referenced with the cost they charge would easily prove this.

Ron actually enjoyed the idea and I hope he runs with it in one of his upcoming articles.

Behind Every Scary Man …

… is an even scarier woman!

I know I know, I replaced the word “great” but you HAVE TO READ THIS ARTICLE FROM BEGINNING TO END to understand why. (i.e. all four pages)

Wives of four of the central figures arrested last month were among the most active on the website, sharing, among other things, their passion for holy war, disgust at virtually every aspect of non-Muslim society and a hatred of Canada. The posts were made on personal blogs belonging to both Mr. Amara and Ms. Farooq, as well as a semi-private forum founded by Ms. Farooq where dozens of teens in the Meadowvale Secondary School area chatted. The vast majority of the posts were made over a period of about 20 months, mostly in 2004, and the majority of those were made by the group’s female members.

I could not stop reading how these wives crying foul on the news following the arrests were, in many cases, more anti-Canadian than their arrested husbands.

I would even go so far as to ponder why people like Ernst Zundel are arrested for hate literature while these ladies roam free and harp to our media how their husbands are innocent. (One would think that if these women were pushing their husbands to commit Jihad, they may find themselves charged with the same crimes their husbands are charged with.)

Smackdown (June 24th, 2006)

Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay has called for the arrest of Iranion Prosecutor General Saeed Mortazavi for his … ahem General PERsecution which lead to the death of Canadian journalist Zahra Kazemi.

The Iranian Justice Minister responded:

But in an interview with CBC News, Iranian Justice Minister Jamal Karimirad dismissed Canada’s claims, calling them “highly regrettable, a violation of international protocols.”

According to Karimirad, allegations that Mortazavi had any involvement in the death of Kazemi are unfounded.

“The allegations are fabrications,” he said, “baseless lies.”

“The fact Canada’s foreign minister was repeating them,” he added, “was libelous.”

To these comments, Peter MacKay laid the smack down Canadian style:

“Take me to court. Come to Canada and face it in the justice system, if that’s what he believes. I don’t put a lot of faith in what the Iranian justice minister has to say, frankly.”

Ouch. That had to hurt.

I just can’t imagine why Iran has such disdain for Canada.

You Have To Nip It In The Bud And Kids Learn Better At A Young Age

This goes for what is right and what is wrong as much as it does for French, Math and Backgammon. (My 9 year old is almost getting as good as me at Backgammon, which scares me).

But it doesn’t scare me as much as the information in this post by Steve Janke. I highly urge you all to read it and the comment from Correctional Grunt.

The Supreme Court of Canada, in a judgment sure to spark political controversy, has refused to boost the sentence of one day in jail for a Winnipeg teenager who beat a man to death with a billiard ball wrapped in a sock.

In a 7-0 ruling Thursday, the court said the Youth Criminal Justice Act, as currently written, doesn’t allow for increasing a sentence just to send a get-tough message to the public.

Steve’s post goes on about the “get out of jail free” aspect that aboriginal Canadian youth have. I would like to add to this by noting that we are all letting the youth of today off with a free pass in many more ways than just murder, although letting them get away with murder just sounds priceless. This article at CFRA’s website has some interesting info on how we treat underage drinkers who put, not only themselves, but others at risk.

Two young men are in hospital being treated for alcohol poisoning after a grad party got a bit out of hand in Gatineau last night.

Firefighters were called with reports of a fire in some bush at the end of McDermott Avenue around 11:30.

They found more than a hundred young people gathered around a bonfire.

Paramedics say two of them had to be sent to hospital.

Gatineau Police say they had no problems getting the other kids to head home.

(Bolded highlighting mine)

They just dispersed the crowd. These “kids” were drinking in a public place. They had open alcohol, and it was very likely many of them were underage. They had a bonfire going in the middle of the woods. Like that’s safe. And they were just dispersed with no repurcussions.
How can we expect our kids to grow up understanding that bad behaviour has bad consequences? I can just see a conversation at the bush party now.

Fireman: You kids better get going.

Drunk Teen 1: Awww, bummer. We can’t enjoy our drunk with the fire?

Fireman: No, you should hop on your bicycles and ride home.

Drunk Teen 1: Bike? Ha!. Hey Joe, how many fingers am I holding up?

Drunk Teen 2: Tree?

Drunk Teen 1: Two, close enough. You drive. Take me home.

At minimum these kids should have had the cops called on them and the authorities should have administered breathalyzers and anyone with ANY alcohol level who was underage should have been tossed into the back of a cop car, hauled off to the local holding cell and made to wait until their parents came and picked them up. The rest should have been ticketed and forced to go get buckets of water and put the bonfire out.

When my son does something (for example) like leaving a cabinet door open, instead of closing it for him, I get his ass up from whatever he was doing, make him climb up the stairs or down the stairs and close it. The inconvenience is a big part of the learning curve for children. Make it a bit tougher on them to do the wrong thing and they will start doing the right thing.

Yes, it would be far less painful for me to simply close the cabinet than it is to repeatedly get them off their duffs and deal with their aggravation, but if we make the wrong way the easy way, they will always do it. By making the right way the easier way, they will learn the difference between right in wrong. In this example, close the cabinet when they are done taking what they need out of it.

You might call me a hardass, but I’ll be damned if my kids don’t grow up with good manners, good habits, good work ethics, and most importantly a good sense for right and wrong.

Because that sense for what is right and wrong will let them deal with the numerous situations they will face in life which we as parents cannot predict.

Mugabe Marionnette Stuffs Anglican Pulpits With Puppets

In addition to the atrocities that have left hundreds of thousands homeless and dying of starvation, Robert Mugabe is now stacking the Anglican Church in Zimbabwe with his henchmen.

I’ve written about Mugabe here and here but the situation is getting worse and worse.

The controversy revolves around Nolbert Kunonga, the Bishop of Harare, who last year became the first Anglican priest in Africa in more than 100 years to face prosecution by his peers. The charges included preaching racial hatred.

Since his appointment in 2001 Kunonga has consistently used his pulpit at St Mary’s Cathedral to praise Mugabe and decry critics of the regime. As a reward he was given a farm and a seven-bedroomed house overlooking a lake.

Now the 56-year-old bishop has started ordaining government ministers and party officials with no theological training, including Joseph Msika, the vice-president.

Any priest who dares to speak out finds himself transferred to a remote parish and intimidated.

This could make Zimbabwe the next Rwanda.

Chretien Delusional That Sponsorship Scandal Is Over. Show Me The Money!!

This does not shock me but after Chuck Guité was found guilty on all five charges relating to the Sponsorship Scandal this week, dat der guy from Shawinigan came up for air.

“He was found guilty, it ends there,” Chretien told reporters Friday in his hometown of Shawinigan.

“I’ve always said, if there were some who stole money, let them go to prison. That’s what’s happening. I said it four years ago when I asked the police to intervene. That’s exactly how the system should work.”

H/T to Dr. Roy on this one

Umm, excusé-moi M. Chretien. But I watch enough cop shows to know that is NOT how it works. You see Chuck Guité has the right to an appeal. And when his lawyers tell him that his chances of overturning the appeal are slim to none, he starts to deal for a lesser sentence. And what does he deal with? Knowledge. What knowledge you may ask? We’ll just have to wait and see what time, and Chuck Guité, reveal.

We want proof about where the money all went. And as you know…A Proof Is A Proof

Liberal MP Keith Martin Makes A Good Proposal … A Year Too Late

Riddle me this? When I a Liberal a hypocrite? Pretty much always, especially when it comes to standing up to international tyrants.

Liberal MP Keith Martin is asking the Conservative government to indict Robert Mugabe under the Crimes Against Humanity Act.

“Mugabe’s actions have left millions on the brink of starvation and a similar number have been forced to flee his dictatorial regime to surrounding countries. Time is of the essence and the international community must act with haste,” Mr. Martin said.

We must act in haste?? Time is of the essence??

How’s THIS for haste Mr. Martin? Your party was in power when these atrocities were occuring yet you did nothing when you had the reins. How do I know this? Because I blogged about it last August.

The very same China that we give money to gives money to Robert Mugabe, the ruthless dictator. The same Robert Mugabe who ordered massive raids leaving 1000’s of homes, farms and business decimated, and over 300,000 people homeless. With nights in Zimbabwe reaching down to freezing temperatures, the death toll steadily rises. All under the name “Operation Murambatsvina” which means “get rid of trash” in Shona.

Mugabe, the same man who handed over the farms to the retired armed forces who had helped him take control over 20 years ago. Mugabe, who has now turned on them, taking the land. Mugabe, whose governments lack of planning left so many of those retirees without seed for a new crop. Mugabe, who now, along with the ZANU-PF party, sees these retirees as more of a burden to their fiscal plan, than an asset.

It’s good to see someone we give money to, turn and give money to a nation that is clearly in need of new leadership and new international relationships. Canada gives to China, who gives to Robert Mugabe. Let me repeat that for those of you sleeping. CANADA GIVES MONEY TO CHINA, WHO IN TURN GIVES MONEY TO ROBERT MUGABE AND THE RUTHLESS ZANU-PF PARTY IN ZIMBABWE. Ok, Just checking, relax. I didn’t mean to yell.

Why were you not demanding your own party stand up to this tyrannical leader back then, Mr. Martin? Were you not aware that the Liberals were giving $50 Million dollars a year to the Chinese, who in turn were helping fund the actions of Robert Mugabe? More Liberal hypocrisy.

We all know the Conservatives cut the $50 Million dollar transfers to China. A good start. And should Mugabe be indicted? Yes, I agree he should. But your call for action now and demanding haste is self serving. You would not DARE call out your own government’s inaction a month or two before the writ was dropped last fall. And now you call for action trying to look like a compassionate Liberal.

Letter to Dalton McGuinty from legal counsel for Mike Harris

TORONTO, June 7 /CNW/ –

VIA FACSIMILE (416) 325-3745

The Honourable Dalton McGuinty
Premier
Legislative Building
Queen’s Park
Toronto, Ontario
M7A 1A1

Dear Sir:
Re: The Ipperwash Inquiry

We are counsel to the Honourable Michael D. Harris and represent him in The Ipperwash Inquiry.
In the legislature yesterday you were criticized by Progressive Conservative members regarding ongoing events in Caledonia, Ontario, where
direct action has been taken by some First Nations persons regarding certain land issues. In responding to that criticism you made the following statements:

“The party opposite would prefer that we direct a police action. Let’s be honest about where they’re coming from in this regard. That is their preference. We bring a different approach. It is thoughtful; it’s based on our recent understanding of some painful lessons in the history of this province.
(…)
“I prefer to be direct with Ontarians. Again, the Conservatives prefer that we direct the police and that we send them out on some kind of police action. We see things differently. They have not drawn the appropriate lessons from what happened some four years ago. We have.
(…)
“But I suggest to my friend opposite that he really should own up to the fact that the objection he has, in terms of the approach we have taken, is that we have refused to direct the Ontario Provincial Police.
(…)
“What the member opposite is asking us to do is to direct the Ontario Provincial Police in the conduct of a police action.”

The plain meaning of these statements is that Progressive Conservatives have in the past preferred and have chosen to address direct action by First Nations persons by directing police operations against them. Any reasonably informed Ontarian would also understand through your references to the past and “painful lessons in the history of this province” that your words referred to the police operations involving First Nations persons at Ipperwash Provincial Park in 1995 and their tragic outcome.

Your statements demonstrate complete ignorance of the evidence that has in fact been heard by The Ipperwash Inquiry. The allegation that Premier Harris directed the police operations at Ipperwash is unfounded.

Your statements also presume the outcome of matters in issue in The Ipperwash Inquiry’s ongoing proceedings. For a Premier of Ontario to make such statements is plainly prejudicial to the integrity of The Ipperwash Inquiry’s process. You should immediately withdraw your improper statements and apologize to Commissioner Sidney Linden.

Any allegation that Premier Harris directed the police operations at Ipperwash is also gravely defamatory of Mr. Harris personally. Our client will not tolerate the revival for your present political purposes of irresponsible and unfounded smear tactics deployed against our client in the past by members of your government.
If you make such statements again outside the legislature, either expressly or impliedly, legal proceedings will immediately be commenced against you personally.

Yours truly,

Peter A. Downard
