Judge Chops Down Tree With Politically Correct Axe

I’ve had it. I’ve finally flipped my lid when it comes to political correctness.

I have spent the last two days in Toronto on business and talk radio here has been rambling on about Judge Marion Cohen’s decision to have a Christmas Tree removed from the courthouse on Jarvis Street.

The judge, who oversees administration at the courthouse, said it’s inappropriate that a Christian symbol is the first thing visitors see when they enter the building.

I have to point out that the Christmas Tree is not a Christian symbol, but a Pagan one from Germany adopted by Christians in the late 1800’s when the Queen of England put one up for her German husband.

I am waiting to see what she makes people swear to “tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth” on. Is the bible that many of our laws are based on to be banished next Judge Cohen? Or do you just remove the new testament?

Should Judge Cohen ascend to the highest court in the land, would she refuse to allow turbaned RCMP officers to provide security for her court or testify in it? Will she have the word God stricken from our national anthem?

I have just about had it with these politically correct situations that are not giving Canadians Freedom OF Religion but, more aptly, they are giving us Freedom FROM Religion.

Bill Carroll spoke a mouthful when he said it is crap like this that empowers those who say things like “You see? This is what they are doing to our country.”

I have started wishing EVERYone I know or run into a Merry Christmas. This includes my grocer, the Walmart greeters, the postman, police officers, the Tim Horton’s drive through personel and, yes, even judges.

I encourage you to do the same. You will be surprised at how many smiles you get compared to scowls.

What Does The Wheat Board Have To Hide?

I am no expert on the Wheat Board. Nor am I an expert on the Accountability Act. But I just watched 30 minutes of the Senate Committee On Legal and Constititutional Affairs as they discussed bill C-2 (The Accountability Act) and Liberal Senator after Liberal Senator grilled Alan Leadbeater on the validity of including the Wheat Board in the Access to Information aspect of the Bill.

First it was Senator Lorna Milne (Liberal) stating she did not believe the Wheat Board fell under this section .

And then it was Senator Pierrette Ringuette (Liberal) who was pretty ticked at the apparent inclusion of the Wheat Board and questioning comparisons to other monopolisitic agencies.

And then it was Senator George Baker (Liberal) probing on how the Wheat Board differed from a private corporation and when it was explained to him, he got quite snippety with Leadbeater.

Are the Liberal Senators protecting something?

Leadbeater clearly stated that the Wheat Board itself has a list of information of which it will not disclose information on. Each of the items the Wheat Board lists IS protected by the Accountability Act. So what adding the Wheat Board does is make information they can provide information we can get as a right and not simply by their grace and generousity. i.e. when we ask for it, they MUST give it and not just provide it if they feel like it.

I noticed no Conservative Senator grilled Leadbeater on this subject.

Stephane Dion Must Have A Big Butt

Because he keeps making room for provinces to pucker up and plant their lips on it.

Sunday night, right after the Liberal leadership convention was over he appeared on the CBC National and when asked directly about the 35% increase in Green House Gas Emissions he stated that this increase was because of all the oil production out west and that he would reverse this trend.

By stating this, he did a couple of things.

1) He admitted that we did not necessarily produce the green house gases directly, but that we would owe into Kyoto because of our oil production. Now recall that Saudi Arabia is exempt from paying into Kyoto and they produce millions of barrels of oil per day more than us.

2) He admitted that the Liberals failed miserably with regards to a) setting the Kyoto targets and b) meeting them.

and 3) he told Alberta to kiss his butt.

Well now he has come out and stated that if elected he would return the Wheat Board to the status quo which means he is telling Saskatchewan and Manitoba farmers to kiss his butt too.

I hope he finds a way to tell Ontario to kiss his butt next.

Liberals Fart…Blame Smell On Tories

Now that Zaccardelli has come forward claiming he knew less than previously admitted in the Mahar Arar case, the Liberals are looking to leave the Conservatives high and dry when it comes to an issue that took place under the Liberal watch.

1) The Liberals were in power when Mahar Arar went through his tragic ordeal

2) The Liberals appointed RCMP Guiliano Zaccardelli in the year 2000.

3) The Liberals appointed the O’Connor Inquiry into the Arar ordeal and the Conservatives are acting on every recommendation Justice O’Connor made.

Now that the Conservatives are saving taxpayers millions by waiting for the Arar lawsuit to either be dropped or be finished before moving forward on this file, the opposition Liberals are screaming for a) an apology that would produced a spike in the payout to Arar, and b) the termination from duty of Zaccardelli, whom they appointed.

I am not against Zaccardelli leaving or being pushed out if he wasn’t aware of the details of this high profile case. But I think the government is entitled to a couple of days to assess the situation to determine if a call for his head is warranted. The last thing we need is another Dingwall style million dollar payout if the government boots him. Or worse, a wrongful dismissal lawsuit.

What I hate is the Liberals kicking and screaming at the government to do something that will cost tax payers a big chunk of money and make it look like it was the Conservatives who did something wrong.

What has me the most perturbed at this whole situation is that if a new head of the RCMP is brought in, what happens to the open files such as the investigation into the Income Trust leak that allegedly took place under the Liberal’s watch. Or for that matter, what will happen to all the open cases left with the 33 RCMP Investigations Into Liberal Party Corruption that I posted about back in December 2005?

Will they get lost in the shuffle? Is this what the Liberals want out of the dismissal of Zaccardelli?

Hey Stephane, Don't Forget To Check Your Baggage Tags

I posted Saturday about how the Liberal leadership convention did not bring about the renewal they needed as a party. I thought I would add a bit more to my argument by pointing out some information about a couple of key Dion supporters.

Dion had Don Boudria as his co-campaign chair. And many of you may remember that Boudria held a few key positions.

1) He was the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons for Chretien’s government from 1997 to 2002.

2) He was also the Minister of Public Works right after Alfonso Gagliano. How close to Chretien would Boudria have to be to get appointed to a position which may have been instrumental in the Sponsorship scandal right after the main bag man got canned? I would almost liken it to calling in the trustworthy cleanup crew.

To add a bit more fuel to the fire, another senior member of the Dion crew was Herb Metcalfe. Herb is one of the co-founders of Capital Hill Corp, a very well known lobbying firm. His wife, Isabel, ran for the Liberals against our current Minister of Defence Gordon O’ Connor and as I have mentioned before, Capital Hill Corp’s number 3 man behind David Angus and Herb Metcalfe is Chris Collenette.

Does the name Collenette sound familiar to you? It should.

Chris is the son of very well known Liberal David Collenette who was Chretien’s Minister of Defence and Minister of Veterans Affairs from 1993 to 1996, and then the Minister of Transport from 1997 to 2003. Two very key positions in the Chretien government. Add in the fact that he is also the son of Penny Collenette, one has to wonder what kind of debt Stephane Dion will have to repay Capital Hill Corp should he ever become the Prime Minister.

In the last leadership race, Chris was a strong supporter of the anti-Martin movement. Macleans had a clip regarding the “dust up” over the election of the Ontario Young Liberals executive.

The future of an anyone-but-Martin movement in the unofficial Liberal leadership sweepstakes is looking doubtful after an early setback. At the Oct. 20 general meeting of the Ontario Young Liberals in London, combined forces backing Health Minister Allan Rock, Industry Minister Brian Tobin and Heritage Minister Sheila Copps failed to elect a slate of their supporters to the new OYL executive. Paul Martin’s team grabbed 13 of 16 positions. But this defeat might have gone unnoticed had it not been that the Rock-Tobin-Copps crew was talking up the meeting in advance. It was the first time they had closed ranks to try to prove that Martin is not a shoo-in to replace Jean Chretien, whenever the Prime Minister decides to step down.

In fact, the buzz generated by the three allies had spooked some Martin backers to the point where they were nervously downplaying the meeting’s importance. Obviously the Martinites needn’t have worried. Among those nursing wounds after the dustup is Rock staffer Chris Collenette, a key organizer of the failed anti-Martin bid — and son of Transport Minister David Collenette and Penny Collenette, the former patronage czarina for Chretien

Bolded emphasis mine.

To elabourate on the term “patronage czarina” that Maclean’s used, I will quote from Penny’s online resumé.

Penny was Director of Volunteers for Jean Chretien’s leadership race in 1984 and Campaign Director in the successful 1990 bid. She worked as National Director and Director of Legal Services for the Liberal Party of Canada for the 1993 election. She was subsequently named Director of Appointments in the Prime Minister’s office, a position she held for over 4 years.

With friends like these, I must ask again…Do the Liberals really think that making Dion their leader counts as a renewal? I think the Dion baggage can easily be confused with that of Jean Chretien on the carousel of Canadian politics.

Meet The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss

When I heard the Liberals were looking for renewal, I figured they would put in someone with a new face. Either Gerrard Kennedy or possibly even Ignatieff if they were feeling a bit more peckish.

But for them to return Stephane Dion says a lot about the party. By the last ballot, Dion was getting the support of Joe Volpe. He was getting the support of Bob Rae and Bob’s brother, an infamous Chretienite. He was getting support from those who felt he did a good job as the Environment Minister for the Chretien and Martin camps.

The bottom line is that today, the Liberals showed just what the level of interest was in renewal. That level is bo diddly squat.

I hope Canadians are paying attention. Dion may be a new name. But he is as old school as the rest of the Chretien crowd.

Accountability Act Delays Cost Taxpayers $5.5 Million (and counting)

I just saw a counter that says it has been 158 days that the unelected Liberal slanted Senate has held up the Accountability Act.

158 freaking days!! Thats over 5 months over a single piece of legislation.

Let me do some math for you. 105 Senators paid $122,700/year, pro-rated at 158 days/365 days means we have already paid these guys $5,576,967 (and 12 cents) to get this piece of legislation through and they’re still arguing about it.

This is why our country is so broke taxes are so high my friends. The Liberals seem to think paying people to peruse the paperwork, ponder the paperwork, pander over the paperwork, pretend they are working on the paperwork, pushaw over the paperwork and then plunder the coffers by paying themselves and lawyers for half a year before they give it the A-OK is the way our nation should work.

What ever happened to “put your nose to the grindstone?” or “plant your feet in the same spot until you get the job done?” Why doesn’t the Senate show a little more “Put your money where your mouth is” and a lot less “Put OUR money where they need some trees cut at their cottage?” and get this piece of legislation through?

Talk about the public getting OfficiallyScrewed.

The World Now Knows Their Gravy Train Has Left The Station

Right now the Kyoto countries make up 30% of the man made green house gas emissions.

Right now two of the biggest polluters, the USA and China, are not on board.

Right now, thanks to the Conservatives and Rona Ambrose, the third world countries that are starting to thrive on microcredit are looking for a new kid to rob of his lunch money, because us Canadians have learned some karate and are standing up for ourselves.

Right now, environmentalistas are screaming out loud in an effort to shame Canada into supporting the rest of the world with Kyoto credits, thus enabling the rest of the world to rape us of a percentage of our natural resources via treaties.

Right now countries like Saudi Arabia are laughing while they charge full price to the USA and other free countries for oil without putting a dime into Kyoto because, believe it or not, Saudi Arabia is considered a developing country.

You heard me right. They are considered a developing country. One of the 100+ nations signed on to Kyoto who won’t pay a dime, while nations like Canada, that pump far less fossil burning fuels into the world market pay.

As a developing country, Saudi Arabia would not be subject to emissions cuts under Kyoto, a requirement only binding 30 industrialised nations. Some 135 nations have formally given their support to the pact.

Think about that. A nation like Canada gets petitioned left right and center for things like better equality for women or to dish out our fare share of money to Kyoto and to stifle our economy, while one of the richest nations in the world, Saudi Arabia, pumps millions of barrels of oil a day without penalty. And then they turn around and treat women like a piece of trash.

Saudi Arabia had a GDP in 2005 of rougly $350 Billion and a surplus of roughly $28B surplus yet they whined throughout the Kyoto negotiations at the thought of losing $19B in oil revenue by the year 2010.

Yet do you see Greenpeace or other agencies giving Saudi Arabia any “dinosaur of the day” awards at the UN Climate Change Conference?? NoooOOOoooooo…… They just harp about Canada coming clean and stating we will not meet our Kyoto requirements and threaten to take us to some world level court.

And why do you think they would do that? Because they want their pound of flesh from of our resource-rich nation. Well I for one am glad that Minister Ambrose is on the job and telling the world the truth about what Canada will do and what we won’t do.

Julia Langer WWFNow here’s the kicker. Yesterday, Monday November 13th on Canada AM I heard Julia Langer from the World Wildlife Fund harping about how global warming is causing drought in Canada and lowering the water levels and that it would continue to do so on a global level.

*Screeeeeeeech*

What?? Global warming will LOWER water levels??? Has the left not brainwashed us into thinking the melting icecaps will flood the low lying areas of the planet displacing or killing millions of people in the process??

I am just about fed up with the left and their fearmongering. We just can’t win. Global warming will flood us. Global warming will dry out our lakes. Oh and did I tell you?? Global warming will slow down your internet connection and turn your hair blue. Global warming will kill your dog, break up your marriage and get your teenage daughter pregnant too!!

Be scared!!! Be very scared!!!

The Hair Is Always Thicker On The Other Side Of The Scalp

In light of the recent comments by left wing environmentalistas with regards to Minister Rona Ambrose’s hair, I just had to make a couple of personal observations.

1) I have typically found that people who put effort into their grooming tend to put similar effort into almost everything else they do in life. It has nothing to do with time to do one and not the other, but it is more an issue of someone who takes pride in everything they do. If Minister Ambrose puts a conscientous effort into her grooming then she probably puts the same effort into all other aspects of her life including her diligence with the Environment portfolio.

2) I can only imagine this unwarranted slam is an insult to every female in Montreal. Let me explain. I work in Ottawa and have travelled to many Canadian and American cities on business but I must point out that there is no city like Montreal when it comes to grooming. I don’t care if someone is a lowly clerk or receptionist to the highest level executive, the women in Montreal all put a lot of effort into their appearance. This goes for the short, the tall, the old, the young, the slim, the not so slim. They all put effort in to their hair, wardrobe and makeup. So when the lefties slam someone for having nice hair, they are insulting every woman in Montreal.

P.S. I have to point out that my sister owned a hair salon in Toronto a few years back that I helped name. That name was Hairdotcomb, I figured the websurfers out there might appreciate that one.

Lock Me Up And Throw Away The Key

This blew me away. (I know I know, it’s a couple of weeks old but I haven’t had much time to surf a few of my favourite blogs the past month).

A writer for Grist, an environmental magazine that in the past has featured interviews with Al Gore and Bill Moyers, is calling for war crimes trials against so-called climate change “deniers” who disagree with the theory that humans have caused global warming. David Roberts says: “when the impacts are really hitting us and we’re in a full worldwide scramble to minimize the damage, we should have war crimes trials for these bastards — some sort of climate Nuremberg.”

The Holocaust references drew criticism from Roger Pielke Jr. of the University of Colorado’s Center for Science and Technology Policy Research — who says he believes in human-caused global warming. He said “this allusion is an affront to those who suffered and died in the Holocaust. This allusion has no place in the discourse on climate change.”

Considering I have been a huge proponent of the fact that over 97% of Green House Gases are water vapour, and that the earth has a self healing process that has produced ice age after ice age and warming after warming, I guess I am going to be one of those that eventually get locked up for putting science ahead of leftist fear mongering.

When that day comes, I will once again be able to say that I have been Officially Screwed.
