Mugabe Marionnette Stuffs Anglican Pulpits With Puppets

In addition to the atrocities that have left hundreds of thousands homeless and dying of starvation, Robert Mugabe is now stacking the Anglican Church in Zimbabwe with his henchmen.

I’ve written about Mugabe here and here but the situation is getting worse and worse.

The controversy revolves around Nolbert Kunonga, the Bishop of Harare, who last year became the first Anglican priest in Africa in more than 100 years to face prosecution by his peers. The charges included preaching racial hatred.

Since his appointment in 2001 Kunonga has consistently used his pulpit at St Mary’s Cathedral to praise Mugabe and decry critics of the regime. As a reward he was given a farm and a seven-bedroomed house overlooking a lake.

Now the 56-year-old bishop has started ordaining government ministers and party officials with no theological training, including Joseph Msika, the vice-president.

Any priest who dares to speak out finds himself transferred to a remote parish and intimidated.

This could make Zimbabwe the next Rwanda.

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining …

… and this silver lining deserves a good reading.  Salim Mansur has just made my list of pundits for his refreshing and frank view of the current state of affairs in the world.

I highly urge everyone to read his article from today’s Sun newspaper.

A snippet…

But whose fault is this? Let us, Muslims, be brutally honest.

We have inherited a culture of denial, of too often refusing to acknowledge our own responsibility for the widespread malaise that has left most of the Arab-Muslim countries in economic, political and social disrepair.

Statistics and intergovernmental reports over the past several decades have documented a gap, perhaps now unbridgeable, between Muslim countries and the advanced industrial democracies in the West.

In a recent “failed states index” published in the journal Foreign Policy (May/June 2006), Pakistan, for instance, is ranked among the top 10 failed states in the world — ahead of Afghanistan. Pakistan is a Muslim country, a nuclear military power, but it can barely feed, clothe, educate and shelter its population.

Liberal MP Keith Martin Makes A Good Proposal … A Year Too Late

Riddle me this? When I a Liberal a hypocrite? Pretty much always, especially when it comes to standing up to international tyrants.

Liberal MP Keith Martin is asking the Conservative government to indict Robert Mugabe under the Crimes Against Humanity Act.

“Mugabe’s actions have left millions on the brink of starvation and a similar number have been forced to flee his dictatorial regime to surrounding countries. Time is of the essence and the international community must act with haste,” Mr. Martin said.

We must act in haste?? Time is of the essence??

How’s THIS for haste Mr. Martin? Your party was in power when these atrocities were occuring yet you did nothing when you had the reins. How do I know this? Because I blogged about it last August.

The very same China that we give money to gives money to Robert Mugabe, the ruthless dictator. The same Robert Mugabe who ordered massive raids leaving 1000’s of homes, farms and business decimated, and over 300,000 people homeless. With nights in Zimbabwe reaching down to freezing temperatures, the death toll steadily rises. All under the name “Operation Murambatsvina” which means “get rid of trash” in Shona.

Mugabe, the same man who handed over the farms to the retired armed forces who had helped him take control over 20 years ago. Mugabe, who has now turned on them, taking the land. Mugabe, whose governments lack of planning left so many of those retirees without seed for a new crop. Mugabe, who now, along with the ZANU-PF party, sees these retirees as more of a burden to their fiscal plan, than an asset.

It’s good to see someone we give money to, turn and give money to a nation that is clearly in need of new leadership and new international relationships. Canada gives to China, who gives to Robert Mugabe. Let me repeat that for those of you sleeping. CANADA GIVES MONEY TO CHINA, WHO IN TURN GIVES MONEY TO ROBERT MUGABE AND THE RUTHLESS ZANU-PF PARTY IN ZIMBABWE. Ok, Just checking, relax. I didn’t mean to yell.

Why were you not demanding your own party stand up to this tyrannical leader back then, Mr. Martin? Were you not aware that the Liberals were giving $50 Million dollars a year to the Chinese, who in turn were helping fund the actions of Robert Mugabe? More Liberal hypocrisy.

We all know the Conservatives cut the $50 Million dollar transfers to China. A good start. And should Mugabe be indicted? Yes, I agree he should. But your call for action now and demanding haste is self serving. You would not DARE call out your own government’s inaction a month or two before the writ was dropped last fall. And now you call for action trying to look like a compassionate Liberal.

Photo's From The Bilderberg – Friday

Brookstreet

As I mentioned in my last post, I got the opportunity to drive by the Brookstreet Hotel (shown above) to see what kind of hoopla was going on. Not as an activist mind you, but as an observer. I managed to snap the above photo of the hotel and noticed the parking lot was blocked off with small metal fence baricades. Nothing overly secure, but enough to tell drivers not to enter the long driveway.I noticed a bunch of youngsters standing in the rain eating Pizza Pizza under a couple of umbrellas.

I knew right away they weren’t from Ottawa because no self respecting resident of Ottawa would eat Pizza Pizza. It’s solely for those transplanted Torontonians who haven’t experienced the good stuff Ottawa has to offer.

But I had to ask. So I pulled over, tossed on my blinkers and got out with my cell phone/camera. I asked them if they were there to see what the hullabaloo was about and they said yes and asked me if I was with Alex Jones. I almost died laughing when they asked me if I was with him.

For those who don’t know, Alex Jones is a whack job who thinks past U.S. President’s and U.S. government officials get together for some crazy ritual worshiping a giant stone owl and burning a human in effigy to represent the death of bohemian culture. *clutching side in laughter*

Obviously the nutbar is planning on crashing the Bilderberg. I proceded to say “no” and asked them if they were local guys from Ottawa. They admitted to being from a few different places … Toronto, Vancouver and even a carload from Spain huddling in from the rain.

As you can see from the photo below, the event has cop cars all over. I hope they aren’t needed and if the rain keeps up the way it is expected to, there will be no golfing for the elite, and no fun in the sun for the protesters.

BilderBerg Guards-Ottawa

ADDENDUM:
I recalled reading about Bill Clinton attending a conference but wasn’t sure if it was the Bilderberg, so I got his biography off my bookshelf and sure enough, Bilderberg is listed in the index and pointed me to page 376. However, there was no mention of the Bilderberg on that page or any in the vicinity. If I manage to dig it up, I will post what Bill wrote about it.
An added note, the CTV 11 pm news just reported that Stephen Harper attended a Bilderberg in the past but is not, apparently, at this one.  They also added that if he was, it is shrouded in so much secrecy that no one would know.

Brookstreet … A Hotel Of Kings Now Too? There Go The Room Rates!!

The Marshes Golf Course is pretty nice. But the prices are way too high. Links style or not, I have only played there when they have deals or when someone else is paying because I much prefer Loch March.

But the prestigious golf course, located a mere 500 meters from my office, is part of the Brookstreet Hotel complex which is hosting a group that is even more secretive than the Free Masons.

The Bilderberg Group is in Ottawa this week and staying at the hotel I put my suppliers up in.

Despite being sick as a dog, I need to go to the office tomorrow for a couple of sales calls. I might just have to pass by the gorgeous, (and often empty due to the room rates) hotel and see if I can recognize anyone before security tosses me out on my ass. Ironically, the same doormen who do are the ones who consistently open the doors for me when I go to pick up those suppliers to go on sales calls. Ahh the irony of it all.

Enjoy your stay in our town Kingmakers. In light of this high profile meeting, I have to wonder if the Toronto 17 were arrested just in case this meeting was a possible target. This is one of the first years the get together is being publicized.

Less than 24 Hours After Canadian Terror Arrests And The Race Card Comes Out

Canada is a VERY tolerant country. Unlike the United States, we are not a “melting pot”. In Canada, your ethicity comes first. ex. I am a Greek Canadian, not a Canadian Greek.

But The Buzz at Canoe.ca points out a quote from the Aly Hindy that has visions of Johnny Cochrane flashing before my eyes.

Aly Hindy, an imam at the Salaheddin Islamic Centre in east-end Toronto, said the centre’s mosque had been monitored by security agencies for years. He said Muslims were once again being falsely accused.

“It’s not terrorism. It could be some criminal activity with a few guys, that’s all,” said Hindy.

“We are the ones always accused.”

(bolded emphasis mine)

Brent Colbert reminds us of a quote Aly Hindy made back in July. (note the followup comment to Brent’s post that mentions Hindy is a close friend of the Khadr family.)

He also demanded that the police and intelligence agencies stop “terrorizing Muslim Canadians” and chillingly suggested that he couldn’t “guarantee what is going to happen. Our young people we can’t control.”

Indeed, Mr. Hindy. You can NOT control your youth. This is why we have the RCMP, CSIS and four police divisions jumping when a threat alert occurs. This is why we have lists of anyone buying ammonium nitrate. This is why we have border guards, sniffer dogs, and anti-terrorism divisions in all major western countries.

RCMP assisstant commissioner Mike McDonell put the three tonnes of ammonium nitrate found in perspective:

“If I can put this in context for you, the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City that killed 168 people was completed with only one tonne of ammonium nitrate.”

For the record? If the 17 arrested were Greeks, and if some were cousins of mine, I would be the first to say “lock them up and throw away the key”.

ADDENDUM:  By the above article, my main argument, which may be a bit vague is that it doesn’t matter what the accused background is.  Nor does it matter what their religion is.  Nor the colour of their skin.  The fact remains that the authorities feel they had enough intelligence, information and facts to move on the individuals.  And until due process is complete, they are accused of some very nasty crimes, but still innocent until proven guilty.

But if you saw the cell phone, 8D batteries, barbecue element, and assorted guns, knives, etc from today’s Ottawa Sun, you might already be disqualified as a juror.  It was pretty damning evidence.

Time For A Bush Party

Wow.  Even Tom Clark says George Bush is charming.

In light of all the talk about the Canada/USA relationship leading up to the summit in Cancun, I thought I would toss in my two cents.

I am very pleased that the relationship with our American neighbours is warming up at the head of state level.  But I also must add that my relationship with all the Americans I deal with has not changed.  I deal with them every day in my job and have for 12 years.  I have numerous (by that I mean hundreds) of American friends I have made over the years that I keep in touch with via the odd email or phone call.  I have family scattered across the north from Central Michigan to New York City.

And I can tell you that my relationship with them does not change based on what our leaders say or do.  Or how warm their phone conversations are.  Or whether or not they call each other regularly just to say hi.  Or whether various party members call the opposing leader a moron.

My relationships are one strand in a huge weave that crosses our border daily with an email or phone call.  There are millions of people on both sides of the border with similar relationships to mine.  Perhaps not to the same extent.  Perhaps to a greater one.  But in any case, this weave is what makes the relationship between the leaders irrelevant.  How do I know this?

Think about what you would do if either of our nations declared war on the other?  We would probably still go to work every day, still make those phone calls, still send those emails and still mail those packages.  How many industries would fall over without the amount of trade and transaction between our nations?  Do we not sell the Americans 30% of their oil?  Does a billion dollars of goods not cross the border daily?

Millions of people on both sides are affected from couriers to electronic chip companies knocking on the doors of Nortel and ATI and RIM.  From border guards and customs agents to art collectors waiting for that shipment of Inuit soapstone.  From family split in the 1700’s and 1800’s by the various wars to the immigrants scattering across our nations today.

These are the relationships that show how our two nations are intertwined and how strong our relationship is.

First A Beatle, Then The Walrus, And Now Just A Whipped Dork

You know….sometimes it just doesn’t befit someone to call them an idiot or a fool or unmanly or under the sexual thumb of his wife, or boyish in the brain and not the looks but these days all those would be fitting. I much prefer to just call Paul a dork. It’s simple to the point and effective.

Knowing Apple records history for lawsuits I will probably get sued for this post but I’m sick of stars coming in and using their clout to start a protest against something they know little about. The McCartney’s are getting up in the face of East Coast Canadian seal hunters who started the annual seal hunt today. They released a new video calling for the boycott of Canadian seafood. (We all know how the boycott is just so huge, don’t we?). Little do they know the seal population has tripled in the last 25 or so years. How many fish do you think seals eat? You can’t just jump in and cut off the cycle of hunting or the battle for fish will affect the populations of numerous other species when the seals eat up all the stock.
A note to Miss McCartney, (yes by Miss I mean Paul), why don’t you pull up your skirt, grow a pair and go out and down one of them seals yourself. Aren’t you the Walrus?? Would you deny yourself the pleasure of your dinner?  Did you know that Walrus’ eat seals?

I am the eggman…I am the eggman….I am the Walrus….coo coo coochoo!!

HSUS Claims Size Does Matter…But Is It All Just Bravado?

Tonight on Duffy a member (David Martosko), from Consumer Freedom alluded to a study they did of the restaurants that the Humane Society says have joined their boycott of Canadian seafood. They revealed some pretty interesting results.

They called the 200 + restaurants listed as boycotters and of the 87 they got a hold of, over 78% claimed they were either selling Canadian Seafood or never did to begin with.

The representative went on to say that no longer would organizations like the Humane Society be able to toss out numbers like they do without having an audit performed to confirm or deny their claims.

This is exactly the kind of checking the Canadian seal hunt needed. Nice job Consumer Freedom!!
