Tamil Tigers Busted Buying Way Off Terrorist List

CNN is reporting that 8 Tamil Tigers were arrested under a variety of charges after trying to buy their way off a terror list for a million dollars and also trying to buy surface to air missiles.

NEW YORK (CNN) — Eight men have been charged with plotting to buy surface-to-air missiles for Sri Lanka’s Tamil Tiger rebels, U.S. federal prosecutors have announced.The men also are accused of plotting to bribe U.S. State Department officials into removing the Tamil Tiger group from a list of terrorist organizations and of trying to obtain classified information.

All eight are charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in New York.

According to prosecutors, the men conspired to buy surface-to-air missiles from a black-market source in the United States. They also sought to have the group — formally known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam — removed from the U.S. list of terrorist organizations and obtain classified intelligence by bribing State Department officials.

The group was made up of Canadian and Sri Lankan nationals, and only one was living in the United States, said Bob Nardoza, a spokesman for Mauskopf’s office. The investigation was still going on, and more arrests were expected, Nardoza said.

I chee wawa. What’s funny about this is that the Liberals refused to put the Tamil Tigers on a terrorist list. They were just recently added by the Conservatives once they stepped into power.

What I hope is that CSIS and/or the RCMP use the fact that someone is draped in a terrorist flag for grounds to get search warrants, wiretap warrants, internet tap warrants, ingoing and outgoing mail interception warrants and use whatever they find to toss these terrorist supporters in jail permanently.

Carrying the flag of a foreign nation like Lebanon is wonderful. I am all for people rallying peacefully with Lebanese flags. But when the flag of a terrorist group comes out like this, it is time to draw a line.

This has me so upset, I am changing my poll question to reflect this subject.

Robert Picton Will Only Be Tried On 6 of 26 Charges … As A Start

I just heard this on CTV’s nightly news. As much as I can try to empathize with with the family of the other 20 women Picton is accused of killing, I would hope that they understand that this is probably a defensive measure should Picton get off on some technicality or mistrial.

The judge in the case says that a trial in the other 20 cases is still a possibility which provides the Crown with some insurance.

I hope the family of the other 20 victims understand that this may not provide them with the complete closure they desire, but it is in the best interest of all Canadians.

Drug Whore Thy Name Is Apotex

The difference in price between generic medications and brand name can be profound. Quite often, people who would never be able to afford brand name drugs end up buying the, equally as effective, generics which can prolong and even save lives.

I have always been a proponent of brand name medications because the price increase goes into research for newer, more effective medications. But when a patent ends and the generics come out, a whole new class of people can benefit from the generics. This is typically those on lower or fixed incomes.

Bloomberg is reporting about Briston-Myers Squibb Co. being investigated for a deal they struck with Apotex.

July 27 (Bloomberg) — Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. said the U.S. Justice Department is conducting a criminal probe of an accord that would delay generic competition to its biggest- selling drug, the Plavix blood thinner.

The company learned yesterday of an investigation by the Justice Department’s antitrust division, according to a statement today by the New York-based drugmaker. Bristol-Myers and partner Sanofi-Aventis SA had agreed to pay generic-drug maker Apotex Inc. an unspecified amount to stay off the market with a generic copy of Plavix until 2011.

So Apotex signed a deal to take money from BMS in exchange for screwing lower income Canadians. Hmmm. What do YOU call someone who takes money to screw people?

I would imagine with their biggest selling drug possibly going generic, the bottom line at BMS would be affected significantly.

For those who don’t recall, Apotex is the company who had executives and their teenage children donating the maximum political contribution to Liberal Leadership candidate Joe Volpe.

I had to title my post as such because I am not sure if I should be jumping for joy that this inept leader is stepping down from her roll as OPP commissioner or if I should be upset that her resignation stole from us the opportunity of booting her ass out.

Once the Ottawa Police PSS performs it’s service and investigates the way the OPP handled the Caledonia affair, I think many Canadians will join me in congratulations for sites like CaledoniaWakeUpCall.

How Do You Spell Conflict Of Interest? EmCeeGeeYouEyeEnTeeWhy

Today I am livid. Why?? This is why.

Earlier in the day, OPP Commissioner Gwen Boniface announced that Ottawa police would investigate the actions of provincial police officers during an assault on two television camera operators at the protest scene.

First of all I live in Ottawa and it is MY property taxes paying for the Ottawa Police force. Since the city of Ottawa amalgamated our police force has dropped by close to 25% (252 now vs. 330 before amalgamation) in terms of the number of officers we have on the force. The city has grown from 780,000 (in the areas that amalgamated) to 845,000 now, the property taxes have gone up and now we are sending our boys to Caledonia to investigate the assault of the TV crew that OPP officers stood by watching.

Secondly, our illustrious Premier, the Yellow Bellied McShifty, whose family is very closely tied to our community was elected in Ottawa South. Does this not smack of a conflict of interest? McShifty has been at the heart of this whole conflict since it escalated out of control and having the Police force that protects his jurisdiction do the investigation is simply wrong.

Every citizen of Ontario has a big reason to be worried about this “investigation” *nudge nudge wink wink say no more* and every citizen of Ottawa has two reasons to be ticked off.

ADDENDUM:  Today the Ottawa Police Chief Vince Bevan announced he will be stepping down in 6 months. Hmmmmmm … a man with good morals announces his retirement on the same day his police force is announced to be investigating the OPP affair in Caledonia.

ADDENDUM II:  Sandra Blaikie of A Channel was just giving her pre show info to CFRA and said Vince Bevan’s resignation was totally unexpected.  Double Hmmmm….

Was Karygiannis A Beneficiary Of Tamil Tiger Election Fraud?

The list of registered voters was from Scarborough-area voting sites. All Tamil-sounding names had been highlighted and their home addresses were identified. They were found in the office of the WTM’s treasurer, police said.

According to the Elections Canada Web site, voter lists are protected by the Privacy Act and are only supposed to be used for election purposes. Improper use of voting lists is an offence.

Why is my spider sense tingling? Jimmy K. is likely to be totally innocent of any wrongdoing, but with the strong Tamil connections, I have a sneaky suspicion that the man who garnered 64% of his riding vote may have been a benefactor of the illegal elector list.

Breaking News: Three Urinators Found

The Ottawa Police has just announced that they have identified two of the three suspects who urinated on the War Memorial but they cannot be named due their age.  In late breaking news, the third suspect who is also now known to the police was in the process of being contacted when he called the Ottawa Police himself.  He is apparently 23 years old.

The fact that the only one old enough to be named is the only one who contacted police himself seems quite fishy to me.  I suspect this is just part of some way to deflect the anger and let the guy live a normal life without being harassed by bloggers like me!!

I am also now wondering if the photos of the two young offenders constitutes a breach in publication bans on their identity.  If anyone with a legal mind out there knows the answer to this I would really appreciate it since I have several photos of the urinators on this blog.

A Clearer Picture Of Urinator Number 3

I snagged this off of the local Ottawa News tonight.  I missed their frontal view of Urinator Number 2 below, but I will get it online when I get tomorrow mornings repeat taped.

I have seen a lot of people online commenting on this.  I do think my “string em up by the eyelids and kick them in the balls until they blink” comment may have been a tad (yes just a tad) harsh, but I do like the idea of making them scrub the monument from top to bottom with a toothbrush or making them clean the toilets of every Legion’s bathrooms for a year once a week might just make them, and anyone else thinking of defiling this monument, think twice before doing so.

In any case, I saw an interview tonight with a WWII vet who said they should be shamed for months.  I couldn’t agree more.

I am glad to see that an official investigation is taking place.  I think if they come forward, like men, they will probably get off a lot easier than if they have to be hunted down like the dogs they acted like.
