Support Bill C-391

My open letter to the eight Liberal MPs who voted to abolish the long gun registry last year but who are now being whipped by Liberal leader Michael Zsohar.

Click Here to email them your views.

Dear Liberal MPs.

I am writing to appeal to you and ask you for your help.

I am not a gun owner. I have never owned a gun. But I am a tax payer who is tired of seeing the long gun registry suck up my tax dollars when we all know that the vast majority of gun crimes is committed by hand guns in an urban environment and not by long guns in the hands of hunters and farmers.

From my understanding, your leader has decided to whip the upcoming vote on abolishing the gun registry. (Bill C-391). I am writing to implore you to stand up together as a group and once again support what is the right thing to do for our nation. Your leader is making you all a sacrificial lamb in the next election if you choose to let him whip you to vote against this bill.

Please know that I appreciate your hard work representing your consitutents, even though I am not a direct supporter of your party, I do respect all MPs and especially the wishes of their constituents. I hope you respect their wishes as well.

Thank you and regards,

Mulder

Liberal Leader Michael Zsohar's Circle Includes Supporters Of International Drug Traffickers

Yup.  You heard right.

On Sunday’s Question Period in an interview with Craig Oliver, Michael Zsohar claimed the Prime Minister’s judgment was in question for how he handled the situation surrounding Rahim Jaffer’s original arrest for drunk driving and cocaine posession.  He asked if the PM called Ms Guergis in to ask her what was going on?  How could this have happened? As if it was the Prime Minister’s fault.

From the Turnaround Is Fair Play department,  how does Michael Zsohar sleep at night knowing one of his MP’s has written letters in support of an international drug trafficker?

How bad is his judgment that Michael Zsohar, once acclaimed as leader of the Liberal party, did not boot Sukh Dhaliwal from Caucus when the MP for Newton-North Delta claimed an international drug trafficker was rehabilitated?

Surrey Liberal MP Sukh Dhaliwal has written to a U.S. District Court judge on official House of Commons stationery in support of convicted international drug trafficker Ranjit Singh Cheema, The Vancouver Sun has learned.

Cheema was sentenced in California this week to five years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to smuggle 200 kilograms of heroin from Pakistan to North America in 1998.

The drugs were supposed to be exchanged with cocaine from a Colombian cartel in a deal that was intercepted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Dhaliwal’s letter, dated July 9, 2008 and addressed to Judge Stephen V. Wilson, says the Newton-North Delta MP had met Cheema at “community engagements” and that the gangster seemed to be fully rehabilitated after fighting extradition for 10 years.

Michael Zsohar should put his money where his mouth is and reprimand his drug trafficker supporting MP.  I mean come on. He wrote a letter supporting a guy who planned to bring 200 kilograms of Heroin into North America.  200 Kilograms!!  For real??  Yes For real.

Michael Zsohar needs to work on his judgment. And now you know how stretching the truth and making allegations can be turned around on you don’t you Mr. Zsohar.

Liberal Leader Michael Zsohar A Sexist

From Wednesday’s Hansard. (emphasis on the bolded portion)

Mr. Michael Ignatieff (Leader of the Opposition, Lib.):

Mr. Speaker, for more than seven months the Prime Minister has stood by and watched while Mr. and Mrs. Jaffer attached their tentacles to the neck of the government and slowly dragged it down. The question now is not about Mr. and Mrs. Jaffer, it is about the Prime Minister.
Will he finally explain why he called in the police? Will he finally admit that in the confidence he placed in this couple, he displayed a poor lack of judgment?

Where are the feminists on this one? Where is Michael Zsohar’s critic for the Status of Women on this one?

Michael Zsohar crossed a line here. Now there is NO turning back.

Michael Zsohar is OfficiallyScrewed.

Quit Pulling On Tiger's Tail And Just Enjoy His Play

Under the “Who’s Screwed” tab at the top of this page it says:

OfficiallyScrewed.com is a website dedicated to logically degrading, demoralizing, and deflating those that our society chooses to shower with press, praise and perfume (not to mention MONEY) for being imbeciles and officially screwing us, usually politically.

This usually refers to politicians or crazy celebrities, (the octomom being a classic example).  But with regards to Tiger Woods it does not apply to the golfer himself, but to the women trying to achieve fame by dragging him down.

I have said this before and I will say this again.  If it has to do with his career, his golf swing, his physical condition, his sponsors, his choice in tournaments, his play, his views on other golfers, etc. then it is fair game.  If it has to do with his wife or the women in his life, it really is not anyone’s business.

I am proud to say that despite all the news articles out there, I have maintained my lack of disinterest in his personal situation and to this day I cannot name a single women tied to his infidelities, nor do I care to learn their names.  I AM excited that he is getting back in the game because I love watching him and cheering him on.  He is the best thing that has happened to the game of Golf in decades and I think Golf knows this. (As does the PGA)

You go Tiger.

Is This Stone Too Big To Pass?

Could this be true?  Are doctor’s going to revolt now that Obamacare is here?  This sign was discovered on the door of a urology center in Florida.

Sign On FLA Urologist Door

The sign was on the door of Dr. Jack Cassell, M.D. P.A. at the “Urology of Mount Dora”

Now, having suffered the trials and tribulations of trying to find a family doctor here in Ottawa, I have to say I found this both amusing and disturbing at the same time.  I know that my last family doctor actually told me that he had to interview US.  Talk about disturbing.  In a day and age where competition abounds in every industry, the medical industry is exempt.  Doctors with family practices actually get to choose their patients.   The reason we were given was that the doctor wanted to make sure that he had variety in his patients. i.e. not all patients being seniors or babies etc.  I didn’t think about it at the time, but I WAS being discriminated against.

Lucky for me he up and moved to Calgary (from Ottawa) 2 years later leaving us without a family doctor again.

“I’m not turning anybody away — that would be unethical,” Dr. Jack Cassell, 56, a Mount Dora urologist and a registered Republican opposed to the health plan, told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday. “But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it.”

So how is this sign in the USA different from what our last family doctor discriminated?  Is it legal?  Do you think he can lose his license over this?  Is he within his rights?  Is he upholding the Hippocratic oath?  What’s your take?

Is it the doctor or Obamacare that have OfficiallyScrewed some Florida residents out of this doctor’s urological care?

ADDENDUM

Dr. Cassell appeared on Fox News and told Neil Cavuto that he would not turn away a patient if they walked in and said they voted for Obama. He did say he would hand them a two page pamphlet letting them know how Obamacare is going to affect them. To me it sounded like he had dug into the healthcare bill and noted that many aspects of patient care would change and he would be pointing them out.

Nova Scotia Set To Follow Quebec's Lead

Next Tuesday April 6th, the NDP government of Nova Scotia is likely to raise their provincial sales tax. The Politic‘s Mark Peters points this out in comments to our post on Quebec Liberals raising sales taxes.

Tie in the expectation of an American consumption tax (i.e. a federal sales tax) and we clearly have the answer from far left of the political spectrum.

Liberal “deep thinkers” in Montreal were just waxing poetic on a carbon tax and thinking “Maybe if we smother it in sausage gravy, they scheme, it will be tasty.

It’s no wonder we all don’t just throw our hands in the air and jump on board the sausage gravy train.

My Dedication To Earth Hour – U.S. Should Drill Baby Drill And Fix Debt To GDP Ratio

Fiscal prudence has gone out the window south of the border.

President Obama’s fiscal 2011 budget will generate nearly $10 trillion in cumulative budget deficits over the next 10 years, $1.2 trillion more than the administration projected, and raise the federal debt to 90 percent of the nation’s economic output by 2020, the Congressional Budget Office reported Thursday.

Meanwhile back at home in Canada as recent as a month ago…

“Canada’s net debt-to-GDP ratio is the lowest in the G7 economies,” said Scotiabank president and chief executive officer Rick Waugh back in February 2009. “Even with the Canadian government’s recently announced stimulus package taken into account, the net debt to GDP will remain under 30 per cent.”

With the price of oil heading north, a quick fix for the devaluation of the American dollar is to drill baby drill.

I’m just saying…

Smackdown – Pierre Poilievre Gives Iggy A Diggy

Ann Coulter has entered Hansard. The Smackdown is italicized below.

Mr. David McGuinty (Ottawa South, Lib.):
Mr. Speaker, the darling of the reform-conservative-republican movement really outdid herself last night in Calgary. By addressing Canadian diversity, Ann Coulter said that diversity is not an advantage to a country like Canada. “It’s not a strength”, she continued. Then she went on to compare diversity to cancer. From organizing speeches to putting on cocktails, the Conservative Party’s dirty little fingerprints are all over her Canadian tour.
Will the Prime Minister immediately and publicly condemn Ann Coulter’s outrageous and intolerant views?

Hon. Jay Hill (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, CPC):
Mr. Speaker, you and the hon. member would know that his question has absolutely nothing to do with the business of government and should be disallowed.

Mr. David McGuinty (Ottawa South, Lib.):
Mr. Speaker, the office of the member for South Shore—St. Margaret’s organized a Coulter cocktail. The member of Parliament for Calgary West led the applause last night from his front row seat.
The Prime Minister’s mentor, Rainer Knopff, who co-authored the reckless and divisive firewall letter, co-sponsored the speech and sat there while his guest savaged mainstream Canadian values.
Silence is acquiescence. Either the Prime Minister supports it or he does not. Which is it?

The Deputy Speaker:
Order, please. I do not see that that is a business of government administration. I do see the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister rising, so I will give him a chance to answer, but I caution members to keep their questions–

Some hon. members: Oh, oh!
Mr. David McGuinty: Which is it?
The Deputy Speaker: Order, order. The member for Ottawa South will come to order.
Some hon. members: Oh, oh!
Mr. David McGuinty: Go ahead.
The Deputy Speaker: The member for Ottawa South will come to order.
I see the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister rising to answer the question. I will allow him to do so.

Mr. Pierre Poilievre (Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, CPC):
Mr. Speaker, the member has raised a very important question about an American commentator who has come to this country with some outrageous comments: comments supporting the Iraq war, comments supporting the use of torture, and comments referring to Israel as a war criminal. But enough about the leader of the Liberal Party.

Yowza!! Nice one Mr. Poilievre.

Throne Speech/Budget 2010 Should Show Fiscal Constraint

Did I hear my ears correctly? Did Michael Ignatieff say the throne speech looked more like “regurgitation” than recalibration. Really Michael?? Regurgitation?

Are you actually saying that this throne speech is chunder? That it heaves? That it blows chunks? Seriously? You couldn’t find any other way to say you didn’t like it?

I am glad the government is doing things that aren’t expensive. I’m glad that Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty is starting to show some fiscal constraint. The budget tomorrow is slated to reduce the deficit and being a fiscal conservative I expect to be smiling once it is all over.

The massive spending that was undertaken in the last 12 months was needed but fiscal constraint now will show that the spending was real stimulus and not structural in nature. With the Americans on the verge of signing up for universal Obamacare (which IS structural in nature… and certainly not cheap), and economies of several countries in turmoil, it will set the tone for the world in terms of what other nations should do and put us in a well respected situation. Our credit rating is good. We manage ourselves well.

The country my parented emigrated from, Greece, has raised their sales tax from 19 to 21% and announced cuts of 30% to public service workers. By comparison, this Flaherty/Harper budget will not raise taxes but instead shows simple fiscal restraint and will trim some fat. The salaries of our elected officials will freeze along with office budgets, but pensions will be unaffected.

This is all good.

I would rather see the budget balanced but I think heading towards the $2B by 2014-15 is a big step back in the right direection. Iggy and Jacko may not like it, but that just means it will be my kind of budget.

Sun Tzu Approves Of Harper's Decision To Proroguing Parliament

Sun Tzu, author of Art of War, (the world reknowned book often referred to as the bible on military strategy) would have been in favour of the Prime Minister proroguing parliament. Here is a bullet version of how I came to this conclusion.

1) The Conservative objective is to move conservative legislation through parliament (both the House and the Senate)

2) The Liberals are decimated and fractured in the House so their strategy has been to parry the conservative legislation in the Senate where they have had the majority.

3) Sun Tzu wrote “What is of supreme importance in war is to upset the enemy’s strategic plans.” Hence, the Conservatives need to upset the parrying in the Senate.

4) The only way to do this is to gain control of the Senate (and thus the Senate committees)

5) Proroguing at this time buys the Conservatives enough time to do this.

Chessmaster Harper scores another point.
