The Taliban is spending one million dollars to open its own schools in areas under its control in southern Afghanistan.

The group has announced it will provide Islamic education for students in six southern provinces.

The textbooks would be the same ones used during the Taliban rule.

The Taliban destroyed 200 schools and killed 20 teachers last year.

What a record. Destroy 200 and build one. That’s how you win over the citizens.

I was sickened when I read that Robert Mugabe is being encouraged to stay on as the dictator , errrrr… evil head of errrr… Satanistic leader errrrr… head of the Zanu PF party for two more years.

His head of security even went so far as to suggest he stay on for life, which would be a slap in the face of democracy. After raping the country of it’s riches for years, the Zanu PF party may be starting to see some dissent, which will probably be a good thing.

As many of you who read this blog regularly know, I am not a big fan of Robert Mugabe as indicated by my posts here, here and here.

The Truth About Icebergs Near New Zealand

As I have already seen a couple of commercial clips about the New Zealand icebergs, I thought I would point some information out to my readers to help dispel any attempt by the Main Stream Media (MSM) to make it look like these icebergs are due to global warming.

Please note this:

The flotilla of icebergs off the South Island were probably once part of a much larger iceberg from the Ronne Ice Shelf, on the other side of Antarctica from New Zealand.

And then note this:

The seaward side of the Filchner-Ronne ice sheet is divided into Eastern (Filcher) and the larger Western (Ronne) sections by Berkner Island. The whole ice shelf covers some 430,000 km², making it the second largest ice shelf in Antarctica, after the Ross Ice Shelf. It grows perpetually due to a flow of inland ice sheets. From time to time, when the shearing stresses exceed the strength of the ice, cracks form and large parts of the ice sheet separate from the ice shelf and continue as icebergs. This is known as “calving”.

To back up this data, I looked up information on the Ross Ice Shelf which is similar to the Ronne Shelf but bigger and you can consider this supporting data.

Another massive iceberg has broken off the Ross Ice Shelf, reducing the Antarctic formation to about the size it was in 1911 when explorer Robert Scott’s team first mapped it.

Scientists at the University of Wisconsin said on Monday the breakage is part of the normal iceberg formation or “calving” that comes as thick layers of ice gradually slide down from the high antarctic plateau, and is not related to climate changes or global warming.

Again, bolded emphasis is mine. I just wanted this known before the main stream media goes nuts telling you these floating icebergs are due to global warming. In fact, I can almost guarantee the news channels will bring up the topic and make it ambiguous as to whether or not this is attributed to global warming. Let’s watch and see how they do on their research into “calving”.

Is Afghanistan Winnable? Damn Straight It Is!!

It may take several years and an hard border between Pakistan erected, but it is possible.

I hear so many people say that the Russians couldn’t do it with over 100,000 troops. Well the Russians had to face an American backed force when they came to Afghanistan. The battle took place at the height of the cold war and may in fact been a big part of how the Americans sucked the resources out of the Soviet Union, which helped them win the cold war.

This time, the strong American economy, the strong Canadian economy and the strong British economy are behind the stabilization. The Russians may or may not be involved on the other side of the fence, but I really don’t think it matters. The need to treat Afghanistan like a meat grinder is starting to show. If the west puts in small amounts of troops, they will just be ground to bits slowly but surely by the populous militants flowing back and forth across the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. But if you stuff the meat grinder with so much meat that it can’t turn, the grinder comes to a halt.

The Canadians are on the brink of shaming the French and Germans into sending more troops to help in the south. The Americans are calling for more troops. Even Bill and Hillary Clinton support this idea. Poland just announced another 1000 troops. The Canadians are mobilizing the Van Doos early. Tanks will be rolling in to choke the meatgrinder. This is what Afghanistan needs.

It’s the right move to free the Afghan people from the tyranny of living under the Taliban.

Rex Murphy Slams Conspiracy Theorists

I was very pleased tonight to witness a commentary on the National by Rex Murphy slamming the whack jobs who think the 9/11 attacks were planned and plotted by the US Government. Murphy seemed legitimately ticked off that people would feel this way. I applaud him because I have felt this way since the first time I heard people thought George Bush planned the attacks.

The commentary is timely considering over a quarter of youth today feel that the attacks were planned by someone other than the terrorists. The number is shocking. Over one in four youth today feel that the government would simply sacrifice thousands of lives and millions if not billions in market capital, construction costs, clean up costs, retribution costs for lost lives, etc.
I haven’t seen a link to Rex’s commentary tonight but hopefully the link above takes you to it in a day or two.

Gwynne Dyer's Pants On Fire After Substandard Research

Ok, so I just continued the line started by Let It Bleed.

But this kind of shlocky journalism has to be stopped in it’s tracks.

Indeed, no other non-Muslim nation except Israel was a target for Islamist terrorist attacks until after the invasion of Iraq in March 2003. And the attacks since then have been aimed at the citizens of countries that were complicit in that invasion: Londoners, not Parisians; Spaniards, not Germans; Australians holidaying in Bali, not Japanese holidaying in Malaysia

Considering the bombing in Bali took place on October 12th, 2002, Gwynne should be apologizing to all his readers in all 45 countries he is published in for this bald faced attempt to lie.  Ironically, he even uses Bali in his list which makes it truly sad.

The public, if not already, should be very leery of what they read and see in the MSM.  The press today is not like it was 20 years ago.  The advent of quick exchanges via email and electronic data transfer has made it too easy for information to make it to print without the due diligence being done to make sure the information is accurate.

In their attempts to make their deadlines so they get the scoop before someone else, today’s reporters are starting to slack big time to be first and make the big bucks.

How The Twin Towers Fell

I tried swimming through the NIST report on how the towers fell but not until this morning did I get a decent, easy to understand explanation. This came courtesy of Discovery Channel’s Frontiers of Construction, one of my favourite shows.

It helps dispel the theory that bombs or internal explosions brought the tower down and runs through the key reasons why the towers fell.

Of particular note is the comment that once the towers hit, it was inevitable that they were going to fall due to the fireproofing being scoured off the supports. Had the fireproofing been intact and the fire continued to rage, there was a very high likelihood the towers would have remained standing.

This was an incredible revelation.

More Terror Busts In London

Let the rout continue. I imagine it’s almost like shooting fish in a barrel once you start busting out the computers and past communications between terror cells and their masters.

LONDON — Police have arrested 14 people in anti-terrorism raids, saying Saturday they suspected the men had been involved in training and recruiting for terror.

The arrests in London late Friday and early Saturday were not linked to the alleged plot to bomb trans-Atlantic airliners or to the July 2005 bomb attacks on London’s transport network, the capital’s Metropolitan Police said. They declined to give details of what the suspects were believed to have done, other than saying they were arrested as part of an investigation into terror training and recruitment.

The raids followed months of surveillance and investigation, police said.

The 14 people, arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, were being held in central London, police said. Officers were searching an unspecified number of homes around the capital, they added.

It’s nice to know this is not related to the previous busts and that we are catching more and more of the bastards.
