Censorship Seems To Be a One Way Street. Direction? Left.

When an artist creates a painting of the Virgin Mary with elephant dung, the left leaning art lovers flock to support the artist.

Yet when a great rock song (another form of art) contains the word “faggot” the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council bans it.

Now, I am neither advocating or criticizing either piece of art.  My only two concerns are:

a)  If art lovers defend and protect one, they should defend and protect the other and if they condemn one they should condemn the other.  i.e. what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

and

b) I do not want my tax dollars supporting either.  Let art stand on its’ own merits.  If people love the painting, they will flock to the exhibit to make sure the artist and the exhibitioners are rewarded.  And if people love the song, then people will flock to buy the album/CD etc to support the artist and production studio.

Disclosure:  I did not view the art.  I do own the Dire Straits Brothers in Arms CD.

This isn’t true. Conservatives are just as guilty as the left in accomplishing censorship.

    Three words: boobies in primetime.

Oh, and they want Wikipedia deemed a terrorist organization and Julian Assange executed. Only the left supports censorship. Yep.

How do you equate the CBSC with the left?

    Four observations:

    1) The CBSC ruling was the result of a listener complaint. We do not know the identity of said listener, nor do we know that person’s political views.

    2) The CBSC is a body of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, which represents Canada’s private broadcasters. Not exactly a left wing bunch.

    3) The banning is generating even more criticism amongst the Progressive Bloggers. This is an instance in which both they and the Blogging Tories are very much on the same page.

    4) Censors span the political spectrum.

This article is highly inaccurate, but what else would you expect from a biased fool?

Dire “Straights” will be crying all the way to the bank from great publicity like this.

Radiohead’s Paranoid Android video was a cartoon. The Canadian broadcasters censored some chainsaw violence while the Americans covered up cartoon mermaid titties.

Conservative censorship is more powerful in the USA while the Canadian intelligencia are much more politically correct.

Sure, wannabe censors span the political spectrum. But really, when was the last time a conservative complained about song lyrics and had their concerns validated? In Canada?

A guy in Alberta couldn’t get a human rights tribunal to agree that “Kill the Christian” crossed the line.

Yes, the complainant is some anonymous listener of dainty sensibilities who we know nothing about. But I would give it 3 to 1 that they don’t vote conservative.

And Wikileaks has no real connection to this issue.
