It also says “Authorized by the CFO for the Liberals in Mississauga Streetsville”

For a couple of seconds I thought one of the adverts in the lower right hand corner read “GTA Midwives.” No such luck. Still, I imagine the “pub event” must have been interesting; all those liquored up Liberals trading stray ideas/plots/potentially homicidal schemes regarding their current leader and who to replace him with would have made for an agreeably Halloweenish evening.

But to your point, keep an eye on who’s delivering the pizzas to Bonnie Crombie’s campaign office: if it’s always the same guys, you may have a clear case of influence peddling. Pizza Pizza is about Stephane Dion’s speed.

Honestly this must be a farce. Crombie was just letting people know what food and drinks they could get at the fun family oriented event she put on. Here is a definition of sponsor “Do one’s shopping at; do business with; be a customer or client of” this is from “Word Web”. The companies were just offering their products at the event or Bonnie bought the products and sold them. Plus there were other spelling/meaning errors: recite instead of receipt. Take this video down it is stupid. Bonnie wouldn’t break laws that is for Wajid (Let’s not get Khanned Again!) Khan to do. And hey I was pretty sure it was the Conservatives who are under scrutiny for elections fraud and it is Wajid who is a turncoat that has not filed his returns yet (and is under investigation from Elections Canada). Let’s not be idiotic Bonnie didn’t take corporate donations and you know it. Sometimes we have to put partisanship aside and really take a good look at things. Bonnie broke no laws this is just a desperate Wajid Khan, don’t believe it.

Actually Steve, it was the Liberal EDA that did not file their returns and who were eventually de-registered by Elections Canada for failing to do so. The campaign returns can be found by doing a simple search of the Elections Canada database. But don’t let any facts get in the way of your rant.

Steve (#5) – I think your definition of sponsor is a bit off from the dictionary.

    spon·sor
    –noun
    1. a person who vouches or is responsible for a person or thing.
    2. a person, firm, organization, etc., that finances and buys the time to broadcast a radio or television program so as to advertise a product, a political party, etc.
    3. a person who makes a pledge or promise on behalf of another.
    4. a person who answers for an infant at baptism, making the required professions and assuming responsibility for the child’s religious upbringing; godfather or godmother.
    –verb (used with object)
    5. to act as sponsor for; promise, vouch, or answer for.

Number 2 looks awfully fishy to me.

    JJ,
Sorry for ranting (as you call it), I was and am very emotional on this topic (as you also seem to be). Bonnie Crombie is an outstanding person and politician who was slandered and has done nothing wrong. This triggered me to post my previous comment. However as you pointed out it the Liberal EDA was de-registered for not filling their returns. However the Liberal President of the Association was Khalid Sagheer who was a Wajid supporter who like Wajid crossed the floor and no longer had time then to deal with his friend’s old ridding association’s issues. I am aware that the usual visitors to this website are not necessarily people who view crossing the floor to the Conservative Party as a bad thing however to me all crossing the floor is an unethical thing to do (there are people from all parties who are guilty).

    And

    TrustOnlyMudder,
That definition is from “Word Web” Dictionary. I, as the person who made the flyer, know what I was meaning to imply, no offence meant to your interpretation skills.

And yes there were some issues with the flyer I made and the comment I posted but lets not blame Bonnie Crombie an outstanding politician for these mistakes. Next time I use I will elaborate on my posts and use words that do not have lots of alternate meanings that some conservatives can take the wrong way. But the point here is that Bonnie Crombie has not broken elections rules and that the video and comment are untrue. And I would appreciate if Peter van Loan rescinds and apologizes for his comment and the TrustOnlyMudder takes the You-Tube video and this artical down.

    Thanks,

Steve, do you have some inside knowledge that Crombie did not take corporate donations, or are you simply assuming. To me, stating that a corporation has sponsored an event means that they have financially backed an event. The optics from the brochure lead me to believe that they were a sponsor, in the traditional sense of the word (to make it clear,#2 as defined above).

If you have any actual evidence to the contrary, please share. Otherwise I, and everyone else, has the right to assume that there may have been some inappropriate donations.

It doesn’t matter who made the flyer.

It clearly says “Authorized by the CFO for the Mississauga Streetsville Federal Liberal Association”

Either it was authorized, or it wasn’t official and someone is impersonating the Registered Financial Agent.

I think this warrants an investigation by Elections Canada. I think that the findings should be made public so that every citizen gets the true and unedited (no pun intended) version.

You’ll have to excuse us Steve if we don’t simply take the word of a 14 or 15 year old. Congratulations on being involved in the political process. If you did make the flyer, you had to get your information from somewhere. Who checked the flyer prior to it being printed or distributed?

Arch-Liberal and Dion confidante, Jason Cherniak, posted on his blog this explanation, apologia and attack on CPC Van Loan over corporate “sponsors” listed on a Liberal MPs brochure. His excuse? A 14-YEAR OLD PRODUCED THE BROCHURE … LIBERALS USE CHILD LABOUR FOR THEIR ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS …!!!!
    __________________________________________________________________________

    Van Loan manufactured mud

Bonnie Crombie is the Liberal candidate in Mississauga-Streetsville. Last Friday, she held a successful event with over 500 people. The 14-year old who produced the brochures advertising the event mistakenly referred to “sponsors” in the distribution. I have spoken to Ms. Crombie and she informed me that all services are being invoiced and paid for as in any normal business transaction. There were no corporate “sponsors”.

SO you are tell ing us that – GTA Midways Rentals – fair market value of $15,000 is going to be paid for by the Liberal Association in Streetsville???

I look forward to Elecetions Canada investigating GTA MIIDWAYS to find out what they normally charge for equal service and then watching Bonnie pay for that out of her election account which I hear is already pretty small.

    Thanks for clearing that up

Even if the sponsors aren’t a problem, isn’t there an issue with tax receipts being issued for the full cost of an event ticket? I understood that you can only receipt donations. Doesn’t everything (including the pizza, beer, performances, rides) for the attendee have to be paid for first before receipts can be issued?
