Liberals Misinterpret Anti-Israeli For Anti-Jew … There IS A Difference

Late last week Prime Minister Harper made a comment that virtually all the Liberal leadership candidates are anti-Israeli.

In the ensuing days, the same candidates are all defensive about the comment. And in EVERY defence I heard, the candidate in question made allusions to the Jewish religion and how the comment was blatantly false. But was it??

I have some news for the Liberals out there. Israel may have been formed as a homeland for the Jews, but it is also a holy place for people of Christian and Muslim faith. Jerusalem is a holy city to all three religions. Christ was born in Bethlehem.

So when the PM makes a statement that the Liberals are anti-Israel, it should not be misinterpreted by anyone as anti-Jew. To do so would just insult those of us who know that the two are different. It is in fact a statement against a nation, not a religion. And for people like Bob Rae to play the sympathy card is simply wrong.

If you don’t believe me, try reading more about the differences at Jews Against Zionism.

Stephen Harper said that (virtually all) Liberal Leadership candidates are anti_Israel. The next day he excluded Brison and Volpe.

That means he considers Ken Dryden and Bob Rae to be ANti-Israel.

That is an obsence comment by the PM and Tories should be embarrased by it.

Give it a rest Jay. I’m so sick and tired of these overly sensitive politically correct types. The wife of a prominent LIBERAL MP just QUIT the Liberal party and said the EXACT same thing as Harper.

Liberals ARE anti-Israel and MANY of them are anti-semites too.

Oh. In case you missed it in the news, it was Mrs. Cotler. And how about those other prominent Canadian business jews who quit the Liberal party for the same reason. Should they be “embarrassed” too. What a joke.

In part, Jay is correct. The Liberal leadership contenders do not believe in anti-semitism. They merely echo focus groups of Liberal voters who maintain a snotty “right-on” attitude learned at university, of which the Israel-wrong/Palestine-right soundbite is merely an arrow in a bulging quiver of adopted policies. These leadership contenders in point of fact believe in nothing. They are nihilists looking to boost their public careers, and if that means smearing some yids en route to the trough, so be it. As Jay pointed out, calling them on it is considered poor taste.

All of you who think thst Dryden, Brison, Volpe and Rae are Anti_Israel must seriously calm down. Bi_partisan support for Israel is what is needed and desired.

These are all friends of Israel – GROW UP!

Dave (#4) you said calling them on it is considered poor taste.

I highly disagree. Calling them on it is EXACTLY what we need to do. The last thing that we need is complacency when it comes to federal politics. It was complacency that let the corruption grow to the point it has.

Jay (#5). I didn’t hear any of the candidates you mention speaking up and denouncing Hezbollah when they crossed an international border, kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed 8 others. Not a single peep. Just a point that I feel had to be made.

    Trustonly:

Go check Brison.ca and you will find Brison’s timely comments about Hizbollah and their assulat on Israel.

Will you now post an apology.

If Brison’s website is not wnough for you do a search and you will see his comments covered in much of the msm.

    Dryden wrote an op-ed.

    Volpe is quoted in msm.

    Bennett as well.

Jay (#7) help me out. I know Volpe was retracted by Harper, but I looked at Brison’s site in the News section, the speeches section, the main page and the FAQ. Didn’t spot a thing.

I do remember reading about many other Liberals being pro Hizbollah. Like This Liberal Blog Comment (which I quote)

Denis Coderre and Pablo Rodriguez mopped around Vancouver at the National Caucus rtreat with their tails between their legs. The two of them, together with Quebec Young Liberal bright lights like Antonio and Brigitte Legault marched in parades with Hizbollah supporters and/or attended Press Conferences with Hizbollah sympathizers.

I will retract on Bob Rae as I did find a quote in the Mop and Pail via Cerberus, another left leaning blog.

On the Middle East conflict, Mr. Rae condemns Hezbollah’s “abhorrent tactics” and strongly backs Israel’s right to defend itself. Well, so does Mr. Harper. Significantly, Mr. Rae does not say, as many other Liberals have, that Mr. Harper has tilted too sharply toward Israel. What he does say is that Canada should counsel “restraint” and back the diplomatic effort to “devise an appropriate plan.”

BTW, Bob Rae gives new meaning to the name skinnyDIPPEr after his appearance on Mercer.

The website you quote is garbage and represents only a few hundred extremists at most.

    Educate yourself.

Backseat Blogger (#9) I didn’t quote ANY website. I was just pointing out that a comments like “anti Israel” should not be misinterpreted as “anti-Jew” Millions of Jews have no tie to Israel. Russian Jews, Polish Jews, Ukrainian Jews, etc. The fact that there exists organizations of Jews against Zionism is just a supporting point and in no way the basis of my post.

I am pretty sure I am quite educated on the subject.

Real Conservative (#10), not to all Jews. And on a similar vein, there is a difference between Arabs and Muslims. It is Muslims who pilgrimmage to Mecca. Not all Arabs are Muslim.
