Say Goodnight Garthy … Goodnight Garthy

What many had predicted has come to pass. Garth Turner was suspended from the Conservative Caucus today and will sit as an independent.

I know I have had a few different views than Garth and made them clear on my site.

Ironically, Stephen Taylor has located a changed blog post that may be the key to what caused the break up. Apparently it had to do with broken party confidences (i.e. the camel’s back). But considering it refers to the billions of unauditable dollars going to Indian Affairs, one has to wonder if this being public is really a bad thing. I, for one, am appauled that this money from the public purse for IA cannot be audited.

One might put Indian Affairs in with a group of Senators milking our tax dollars to the tune of $150,000 for a week long vacation in the middle east.

In any case, I am very curious what is going to happen with the Halton nomination.

If Garth is revealing billions of taxpayer dollars being misused then I want to hear about it.

Garth Turner, MP is a gift to the Conservatives for being so media-savvy. It’s time they put him back already, regardless if he’s a bit… prickly.

RC (#1) I don’t think he is revealing them. The Stephen Taylor post points out a “changed” blog post which might be an indication that Garth did some sanitizing. Which may in itself been an indication of something he didn’t want public after the fact.

I am not against this as I myself have sanitized my site. (After Mike pointed out my colourful language in one post, I went back and rewrote it without the expletives and I am proud to say I did considering I rarely if ever swear even in person)

I saw today on the CTV interview on Canada AM that Garth thinks it may have been tied to his post about the environmental situation the world is facing.

I am shocked that so many are speculating he may join the Green Party. I think he would give them a bit more credibility, but in the same vein he would lose much of his own.

The other day I received an email from a fellow blogger, asking me what I thought about the Garth Turner situation. I replied as follows…

I only know what I see in the papers, but I think Garth is all about, well… Garth. He obviously feels his own needs, whether it’s just ego, or a totally separate agenda, are more important than the party line.

Do I think he was unfairly booted out of caucus? Lemme put it this way… if he was an outlaw biker, he’d be lyin’ in a shallow grave with a small hole behind his ear.
