All Good Videos Must Come To An End

I just arrived home to find a note in my email box from YouTube telling me that the Dan Matheson vs. Dan McTeague video that I had on my YouTube channel (via CTV Newsnet) was removed due to a third party complaint regarding it infringing on copyright. The third party was Holland and Hart LLC, a law firm out of the western US states.

I have no clue why an American law firm would complain about a Canadian blogger/YouTube video post unless it is either a) a firm helping protect YouTube or b) a firm tied to some Canadian entity that must dislike my blog.

In light of this, I am encouraging you all to go to my YouTube channel and view any of my video posts now because I will be removing many of them over the long weekend. i.e. consider now to Sunday your Last Chance Viewing!!

When all is said and done, I will only have my Red Friday videos.

If any lawyers out there would care to defend me leaving these videos up there (for free) please email me. Otherwise, enjoy them while they last.

Dear Member:

This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by Holland & Hart LLP claiming that this material is infringing:

It has got something to do with YouTube being on the cusp of a massive copyright infringement suit being brought about by Universal

“..Universal Music Group is preparing to launch a massive copyright infringement lawsuit against YouTube if no agreement is reached by the end of September. CEO Doug Morris blasted both YouTube and the popular social networking site MySpace, stating “We believe these new businesses are copyright infringers and owe (UMG) tens of millions of dollars … How we deal with these companies will be revealed shortly.” UMG is still negotiating with MySpace, but talks with YouTube broke down earlier this month.”

Having fun is just simply illegal these days…

I received the same e-mail from that Washington DC lawfirm over a commercial I uploaded for a community festival sponsored by CJOH.

I sent a copy of the e-mail to news anchor Max keeping with my appologies for posing the content and a note saying that it was only uploaded in support of the commumnity event.

CJOH and CTV have no relationship with the Washington law firm and the station’s tech reporter has been trying to find out why my video was pulled with no success as of yet.

Refer to LGF’s comment re the lefties have taken over YouTube. There are deep waters in this YouTube stuff: leftist sharks are patrolling YouTube.

Re: Dan McTeague: A Librano$, yes. More: McTeague also consorts with Islamists. Search the ‘net and you will find. …-

Digg: CAIR’s Great, LGF is Evil

The ignorant lefties who frequent Digg (“I don’t know anything about CAIR but LGF is a racist hate site just like Stormfront!”) are having a major hate-fest about us, in an article linked to our story about CAIR’s efforts to shut down a Minnesota radio station’s humorous skit: digg – C.A.I.R. shuts down free speech ‘again’.

    UPDATE at 10/4/06 8:23:59 am:

The vitriolic lefties aren’t just trying to dominate Digg—they apparently already control YouTube: …-

Copyright infringement is rife all over the internet. The US has much tougher copyright laws than Canada.

You were probably violating CTV’s copyright but why should they care? It’s free publicity for them. I’ve started watching Dan on NewsNet more often now that I know he has some guts based on your post.

I always use this argument about deeplinking (no law against that in Canada) and excerpting whole journal articles (something I don’t do because my writer buddies get really steamed at me):

If I buy a copy of a newspaper or magazine and pass it on to my neighbour and they pass it on and so on, is that a copyright violation or free advertising? I see passing around stuff from media sites as being the same thing. It’s not as if they are being hacked, it’s open to the public anyway.

You can request a copy of the broadcast for ‘personal use’ nudge nudge wink wink. Sometimes they charge a nominal fee for that.

    More from LGF:

    Selective Censorship at YouTube

Riding Sun points out that while YouTube is censoring and limiting access to conservative and anti-jihad videos (even canceling one user’s account), you can still find deranged antisemitic and pro-terrorist propaganda all over the place with no restrictions: Selective censorship on YouTube.

GaijinBiker posts several links to such videos, but here’s one of the worst, an incredibly vile show from Iranian state television: Zionist interest & ‘Western’ products – Divest from Israel!

Woo-hoo! You’ve joined the ranks of Michelle Malkin, My Pet Jawa, Little Green Footballs, Crusader18 and every other video blogger being attacked in DhimmieTube’s Jihad against Free Speech. I am honored to know you, sir, and I shall add you to my Hall of Fame “Banned on YouTube” list!!

See, it’s like this. Although the specific video mentioned here (which you THINK is what initiated the problem) deals pretty much with a debate and YouTube is “claiming” it was copyright infringement that urged them to action, the fact of the matter is you are *gasp* PRO-MILITARY or at least appear to support the CF and the Free World’s WOT. According to YouTube, that makes you ANTI-Jihadist. In accordance with their new “policy” to broadcast only the live murders and executions of westerners or innocent civilians and NOT the Free World’s stand against the RIFs, DhimmieTube (as it shall now be known) has started its campaign to silence you.

Please consider reposting all or at least some (esp. the great coverage of “Red Friday”) of your videos over at Flurl (http://www.flurl.com/) where political opinion doesn’t get one “banned” more often than pornographic or offensively violent material will.

And don’t take this too personally; you’re in GREAT COMPANY!!

Any luck contacting that law firm and asking who the client is? Or, through contacting YouTube, any indication of who the actual complainant is (rather than the complainant’s agent)?
