Today Lorrie Goldstein (again) debunks a bit of the global warming hype.
He points out that the way the Liberals are handling the issue exactly as per the four step process outlined by Thomas Sowell in his 1996 book The Vision of the Anointed: Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy
Step 1: Declare a crisis
Step 2: Declare the solution
Step 3: Results indicate solution won’t work
Step 4: Declare the Results in Step 3 were not accounting for all factors and dismiss them.
As Lorrie puts it, Step 4 is actually in a Conservative commercial.
“This is unfair … This is unfair. You don’t know what you speak about! Do you think it’s easy to make priorities?”

or how about this?
step 1: sign treaty to reduce emissions
step 2: ?
step 3: reap huge benefits
Kinda reminds me of these guys…

How about this:
1. Make promises–promises you can’t keep
2. The Canadian public delights in promises (all b.s., but they vote in the hapless Liberals anyway).
3. Do absolutely nothing–like that empty suit Dryden.
4. Expect re-election.
This is the Liberal playbook–they are a horrible party, overunn by left wing moral fools who couldn’t care less about our economy, as long as they save face with the world’s left (that is, the Kyoto protocol).

You forgot
step 5: When your made up crisis can no longer be validated in any way shape or form, make up a new one and distract everyone from finding out what a sham the previous one was
Step 6: repeat
Elizabeth May in the 80’s, while president of the Sierra club, actually predicted that the Great Lakes would be empty in 10 years and we needed to do something about that crisis.

Step 1. Make up a crisis: anthropogenic global warming / climate change resulting from “greenhouse gas” emissions
Step 2. Declare the solution: emissions reductions targets designed to either a) cripple economies of industrial nations or b) transfer vast amounts of wealth from said industrial nations to 3rd world countries in exchange for “carbon credits” which do nothing to reduce ghg emissions.
Step 2a. Do absolutely nothing to reduce emissions except for spending $$$ with friendly advertising firms on promotions like the “One Ton Challenge”.
Step 2b. Promote the “solution” thru the friendly media. Issue reports that say situation is becoming “desperate” despite science to the contrary. Denigrate anyone opposed as a “climate change denier”.
Step 3. Ignore the fact that the “solution” is not designed to solve the “problem”.
Step 4. Blame the current government for the whole mess. Hope the voters will fall for this crap.
