Terror Free Oil?

Terror Free Oil

The first “Terror Free Oil” gas station will be opening in the USA in the next few days.

The idea is to sell gasoline made from oil orginating in countries friendly to the United States.

Yoohoo!! That’s us up in Canada *waving hands*.

You can find out more information by visiting the Terror Free Oil Initiative. And to answer your question, it does not appear that any Canadian gas stations are part of this initiative.

Honestly, I can’t figure out why Bush did not make this a national campaign on about September 16th or 20th, 2001. And why other Western governments didn’t follow suit a week later.

I recall a few, small stores in the news selling only Canadian gas – I figured then, years ago, it would catch on.

We should not be subsidizing poor governments with our money, in my book.

The reason why Bush, nor any other Western country, adopted a policy of boycotting Mid East oil is simple. That would be an economic and political disaster. Our entire economy (especially the global war machine) depends on oil. We import some 65% of our oil needs and to cut off any significant source of oil would only make prices skyrocket beyond what we have already witnessed.

Not to mention that such a boycott would seriously offend several countries in the Mid East that we consider allies, like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Bush is not going to take such political risks for any reason.
