Wow, the PM got him on both the environment and the sponsorship scandal, in two short sentences. That is definitely the PM at top form! He actually seems to like it, who would have guessed, quiet Stephen Harper, would be such a great Prime Minister. He’s making Canadians proud.

For some reason, Dion carries with him a reputation that he is somehow environmentally friendly. Why is that? It is imperative for the Conservatives to ensure that people understand both his record and his party’s record on the environment. Furthermore, when people are critical of Rona Ambrose’s performance as Minister of the Environment, one must remind them that she has only been Minister for about 9 months, half as long as Dion was Minister of the Environment. DON’T GIVE DION A FREE RIDE ON ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES!

Harper’s a sharp guy. Dion is a hypocrite with a big mouth. Good clip.

    I thoroughly enjoy watching Question
Period chiefly because of Stephen Harper.
When the PM is not there the atmosphere
    is very very different.

In all areas, not just in QP, he is
    “brilliant”

And for those who would say oh you are just a “dyed in the wool conservative”–wrong! — I have only
been a Conservative for a year. I am not
growing out of it…I am growing into it
more and more. I feel great. I will stick with them through the good times and the bad. It took me all my life to commit somewhere….about time to.

Stephane Dion – he’s done. I presume the fork is on its way.

Ha ha ha ‘Steve’ just gets better and better…Dion thinks he’s such a smartie – until he trys to play games with someone who actually IS smart.

Thanks for the laugh, your videos are so good.

BilDing, I noticed that Harper himself only said he would not let the other parties get away with it.

And as the press pointed out, he said there would not be any new tax on income trusts. Thank you for helping my argument further since the tax that now is on income trusts is the same one that applies to all types of trusts and investment holdings. This means he leveled the playing field….something Ralph Gawdawfuldale said he was going to do when he gave Income Trusts preferential treatment.

The whole income trust tantrum is getting boring. Let’s talk about why Stephane Dion invited Chretien back to “guide” him into the next election.

Good idea Mac!! I have put in two posts on my blog so far…and no doubt will put in more… speaking of more…as soon as canada wakes up and realizes it is “more of the same” with Dion at the helm…(which he really isnt)…
Chretien is back because the libs are worried about Dion being eaten up by Stephen Harper in the war of words. Well, that is just one reason…did Dion ever get away?..I recall suddenly at the liberal convention…in strode Mr. Chretien…determined to give a barn burner speech…he strode in too confidently..he knew the inside leanings and he took his place…(even before Dion knew it probably)–Dont mind me–feel strongly about this subject…makes my blood pressure rise..sets my recall back in motion..
Roll up your sleeves people…we have a lot of work to do.

Ummm… You call that a smackdown? If that is a smackdown, Stephen Harper has been smacked down a hundred times since he was elected PM.

Depends on what political eyes and ears you are using…I guess.

I have not heard any time really…where Mr. Harper has been slapped down. Lots of drama comes forth from the opposition benches…but that is not “smackdown”.

I am enjoying Stephen Harper’s leadership. I do not enjoy question period as much when he is not there, also.

    Kristin:

Personally, I would prefer a PM who actually answered a question once in awhile, instead of using diversionary tactics.

Isn’t it also time to retire the Sponsorship Scandal rhetoric? Here is what Ibbitson says about it…

This, in my view, was one of the most intelligent things said in Question Period last session:

Mr. Speaker, the government has become accustomed, whenever it is in a tight corner, to blame a previous administration. Those members are the government. When are they going to start to act like one and take responsibility for their conduct?

I’ll let you figure out who delivered that smackdown…

That is no smackdown. To you it might be because you are looking through different glasses than I am. I am happy with mine. I almost voted NDP …thank goodness I didnt. It speaks volumes to me that I am still happy being a conservative after almost a year has passed. Happier than ever even. I see nothing in the liberal questions that would make one proud or would make one want to say to oneself…gosh maybe I better rethink this…they have a point there. I spent a lifetime choosing a party. You and anyone else will not deter me now. However the point is…smackdowns are not why the MP’s are there. This next session should see us ALL get down to the business of Canada in a way even a Liberal might recognize. You think what you wish. We are lucky to have this Prime Minister. The Conservatives have accomplished a lot in a short period of time. Good things. They have had to wade through much liberal mess too. Every new government has to. I am happy they are trimming off the fat and reorganizing and redistributing. The sponsorship thing was a horrendous event..not to be taken lightly nor swept away. Like it or not…it happened…and it was Liberal. Enjoy writing your book, every best wish in 2007.

You hit it bang on! Smackdowns are not why the MPs are there. That is why I liked Ignatieff’s comment so much. Mr. Harper is the Prime Minister. He was elected by the people. Why doesn’t he start acting like it? Instead he continues to harp on the past.

Let me get this straight… the Liberals spent 13 years Officially Screwing the country, wasting billions of dollars while padding their pockets and that of all of their friends… stealing liberty and turning Canada into a socialist nightmare… signing blanks cheques on native issues, childcare and the environment… and now, after less than a year of a minority Conservative government, they’re expecting the Conservatives to ante up for their blank cheques and shut the hell up about their excesses. What arrogance!

Devin, you may have fooled yourself into thinking the Liberals are a good bunch of guys who shouldn’t be tarred by the actions of a few “rotten apples” but you’re not fooling the rest of us.

    Thanks Mac.

To that you can add the fact that Devin probably never watches Question Period, or he is blinded by partisanship.

The bottom line is that the current government only uses the excuse of the previous Liberal governments bad governing when it comes to programs that were a complete waste of tax dollars, make work programs for Liberal cronies, cash filled envelopes, payoffs to foreign governments via Kyoto, and billion dollar gun registrys that were to cost $2 Million dollars in a one time start up fee.

Devin, if you truly believe that the Liberals deserve to be back in power and an HONEST government like the Conservatives should be gone, then I’ll call a spade a spade and assume you were one of those lawyers living off the governments teat.
