Last night over 1100 residents took part in an information session on the planned Carp Rd. Landfill expansion plan. And I get the impression 1100 residents are against the expansion. As I noted here, and here, and here, I am also against the proposed expansion. CTV covered the meeting and I caught most of it.

The city says it’s a provincial matter; the province says it’s municipal.
Why do things such as this get looked at, if at all, until the last moment?
Ottawa suffers from blockage. Our council and mayor cannot make make-or-break decisions when the request or need arises,e.g. footbridge across the canal, nor ensure that organizations, e.g.Exhibition Association relocate or Congress Centre Expansion, perform their activities in a timely manner.
Tough decisions have to be made and acted upon, not dithering. Downloading must be reversed in many cases. When have you seen a mayor/council try that?
