Pay Me And Save Your Soul

Tonight on CBC they had a special on “offsetting”. This is a way people can reduce their Carbon Footprint< / gratuitous catch phrase> by paying an online website to “offset” the carbon emissions they may create for driving a bigger car or flying across the country.

So you can pay now, and pollute at will for it. i.e. it is a “mini Kyoto”.

There are actually companies out there that make a living off of selling these carbon “offset” passes. Who governs them or ensures they are doing what they say they will do?

So in light of this, here is my pitch.

Evil sinner with your SUV. Evil sinner flying around the world. Set your soul free and make a donation to the “Get Mulder A Tesla” fund. You can pollute all you want and know that your donation will go towards the website owner selling his six cylinder pickup truck and buying a green, clean, electric machine!!!!

Hallelujah!!!

Simply make a paypal donation of $1 for every gas tank fill up you made the past year. Or donate $1 for every lightbulb in your house that is not a coiled low energy bulb. Or donate $25 for every 5000 miles of airtravel you did the past year.

It’s easy to do and you can save your soul and the planet at the same time.

Offset Now!!!!

David Suzuki does it!!!

I saw that on CBC too and laughed, until I realized I really shouldn’t. The people featured who were paying $150+ every year to “offset” their driving in town are obviously really, really stupid.

Sorry in advance Mulder if my comments result in a poor showing for your Tesla fund.

That’s not real is it?? Unbelievable, what idiots would actually donate? Is CBC keeping the money?

It’s not too CBC, just some other environmental redemption group. It probably ends up in Al Gore’s pockets.

This is just further evidence that the environmental doctrine of kyotology is more about money transfer than saving the environment. These poor souls have been “Suzukified”.

    Thank God for this!!!
I was actually starting to feel guilty about dumping used motor oil and toxic chemicals down the drain sewer by my house.
But now with this I am guilt free!! And saving the environment! Does it get any better than this!

Have you considered adding a “Climate Change” category to your blog?

There are many notable scientists and skeptics that question whether mankind is principally responsible for climate change, or whether the varied predictions (from the hysterical, such as Al Gore’s) to others are also due more pricipally to natural factors.

David Warren wrote an excellent synopsis in today’s Ottawa Citizen:

“Note that the IPCC report’s conclusions were issued first, and the supporting research is now promised in several months. What does that tell you?”

    David Warren’s Article

David Warren, not a scientist but a reasoned observer, is hardly alone in questioning the one-sided reporting, political and pocket-book motivations of the most recent clique of doom-sayers.

Distinguished scientists around the world are protesting and debunking the ā€œjunk scienceā€ the IPCC has recently announced (albeit toned down from their past hysteria) that seems to be causing politicians (even the current Conservative Government of Canada) to swallow the “World is ending because of manmade C02 emissions” Kool-Aid.

Didnā€™t John Baird recently tell Elizabeth May that:

“I’m not a member of the Flat Earth Society. I get the science”

    Baird Quote Here

I am more skeptical about “the science” than Mr. Baird is.

However, I am an engineer and scientist, not a politician. I might not “get” the “science” that Baird does, now that he has discovered what the polls say.
