Dion Takes Another One On The Chin

I thought that Randal Denley dealt a blow. It seems Michael Coren has dealt the blow no one wanted to be the first to deal.

There is an elephant sitting in the corner of the room and the political elites are pretending it isn’t there. Or to put it more directly, the Tory attack ads on Stephane Dion are missing the point. The most obvious problem about the leader of the Liberal party is that his English is appalling and he is often entirely unintelligible.

There. That which we are not supposed to mention. It’s okay to lambaste English-Canadian politicians for their lack of French, even if they represent completely English-speaking ridings, but never point out that a man who wants to rule Canada and speak to and for 20 million Anglophones has an often-impenetrable accent and a bewildering vocabulary.

But in a similar fashion to Randal Denley, Coren also thinks Dion is not going to make a good leader. He concludes his piece with the following:

Is this a man who is qualified to govern a country as great and diverse as Canada? The question is rhetorical and the answer is obvious in any language.

Liberals all across Canada must be wondering what the options are. Many of their leadership candidates are still digging themselves out of the financial holes they fell in during the last leadership convention. The party couldn’t afford a single Superbowl commercial to battle the numerous ones the Tories are airing, let alone afford another leadership convention which they obviously need desperately.

CBC had a poll where they found that Canadians thought that our leaders should be able to speak French, I wonder if they will do one asking if Canadians think that our leaders should be able to speak English in a manner that we can all understand. I was watching Dion doing an interview the other day and I had to turn it off, I honestly could not understand what the man was saying.

Yeah , I feel soooo bad that the Libs are in the shape they are in. Having a leader that isn’t a leader , that can’t speak English . It is just soo hard to see them soooo broke, it’s truly heart breaking. I sure hope that those pretty green ribbons make them feel better about themselves because we wouuld not want to see them suffer from a inferiority complex and lower their self esteem.

This could effect their self confidents and subject them to aquire a government funded support group to help soften the hardships of reality.Although Stephan would be wonderful to help assist a Romper room class excite themselves by waving his hands around. This may prove to be an essential stepping stone to help and regain any loss of self esteem.

Call me evil, but I’ve been very amused by the Liberals’ plight.

btw, Someone should tell them St Patrick’s Day is in March. Those ‘Kiss Me I’m Irish’ ribbons look silly in February.

This is yet another reason to engineer an early defeat – define Dion through early, then call an election while he’s still broke, unprepared and unintelligable.

I still predict that budget will fail unless the Liberals hold members out of the House.

That won’t happen, Luke, the CPC has long maintained that they want to govern and will not engineer and early defeat in the event that it would seem politically smart. They will be hearing loud shouts from the grassroots, myself included, if they do this after condemning the same practice from the other side of the Commons when they governed.

He may get sympathy like how Jean did. Although it may not work since he is being painted as an intellectual instead of a fighter. — John M Reynolds
