74 Year Old Toronto Liberal Changing Colours

My friend (and co-worker) Eric was telling me about some time he spent with his 74 year old father over the holidays. Eric’s father was a big supporter of Trudeau and Chretien and he was especially fond of Paul Martin. He has been a staunch Liberal for decades.

He mentioned to Eric over the break how he thought our new prime minister is doing a fine job, that he is one of the best true leaders this nation has seen in ages and that he is by far the best dressed PM.

I can’t think of a more glowing endorsement considering the source.

well well, if your buddy eric’s dear old dad thinks harper is well dressed then clearly it’s game over for all others.

how often do you think before you post this nonsense?

Thanks for posting this. Eric’s father sounds like a decent man.

One by one, lifelong Liberals are becoming more and more impressed with Stephen Harper. I don’t recall many Conservatives who were impressed with Chretien or Martin and decided to change their lifelong allegiances. If this trend keeps up, the results of the next election are going to be a big shock to the left.

I got even better critique, Mulder.
My ex-girlfriend’s father says Harper’s doing a great job and he’s a hippy anti-establishment commie.

So can these be classed as attack ads? Is it an attack ad when the individuals in the ad attack their own performance and policy? These are more like public service announcements.

I would put more faith in this simple anecdote than say, a Globe & Mail or CTV poll.

My Liberal Mom is impressed with PM Harper, she especially loves the income splitting, and her new Conservative MP has responded to her concerns promptly. What a shock. I expect her to actually vote Conservative next election.

Brian (#4) I am a 38 yr old ex hippie myself. Heck, I was singing every word with Dylan’s “Tangled Up In Blue” when it came on the radio today!!

I think Harper is big tent because he is doing what is logically right in almost every decision even if it means going back on promises. When you do what is right, your position is always defensible.

Bill, I hear ya. Honest words from honest Canadians mean alot.

AB Girl – Jeff is an artist from Toronto. That should explain a lot.
