Smackdown – Minister of Defence Lays Into NDP MP Dawn Black

This is from Thursday November 9th, 2006 – Oral Questions.

“Ms. Dawn Black (New Westminster-Coquitlam, NDP): Mr. Speaker, when it came to support for his war in Iraq, George Bush told fellow Americans, “You are either with me or against me”. After last night’s mid-term election results, it looks like the Americans are against him, with Republican after Republican getting booted from office for their support for this unpopular war.

When it comes to Afghanistan, will the government learn any lessons from last night, or will it stay the course and meet the same fate as its American cousins?

Hon. Gordon O’Connor (Minister of National Defence, CPC): Mr. Speaker, I consider that basically a silly question.

Some hon. members: Oh, oh!

The Speaker: Order, please. The Minister of National Defence has the floor.

Hon. Gordon O’Connor: Mr. Speaker, it is the equivalent of me asking the NDP if the election of Daniel Ortega will have changed its policies.”

Simply priceless Minister O’Connor, simply priceless.

Such a cool answer – Taliban Jackel and his band of Dippers will never understand life in general and politics in particular.

You guys are funny, we’re watching you, the media is watching you, and it was 100% behind you in the last election.
    And you want a majority?
All Harper had to do was to convice Canadians he could be trusted with a majority. Amazing failure.

Harper, the wrong guy at the right time.

To PCR (#2). You’re the wrong commenter at the wrong time on the wrong site. I’ve seen you posting all over blogging tory sites and saying the same thing. It’s like you’re a disgruntled liberal…or….dare I say it….an Orchardite!!! In fact, Yeah….I would say you’re an Orchardite.

Why don’t you make your own blog site up and post your irrelevant trash there. Your comment has absolutely nothing to do with the post and your similar comments on other blogs has just as little to do with the posts you comment on.

That was totally priceless. You don’t mess with an ex-military man. They don’t take any garbage, from anyone.

PCR, if you are so proggressive, maybe you should learn how to spell it first!

Valley Girl Jane Taber (I don’t know why I watch, it’s like looking under a rock) was going on yesterday in her snide, airheaded manner about how Bush lost because of Iraq, time for the CPC to be nervous, tee hee…

First of all Bush wasn’t running, so he didn’t lose anything. I don’t support the Iraq invasion either by the way but I do support Afghanistan, based on what I know about it.

Secondly, corruption was the number one reason people voted against the GOP and based on what’s come out, especially lately, they deserved to do even worse than they did on Tuesday.

Thirdly, our systems are totally different, our parties are totally different, our laws are different and I’m tired of these know-nothings trying to align the CPC with the GOP and Canada with the US – it just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Fourthly, great answer by O’Connor, absolutely perfect. Funny, I didn’t see that on CTVnewsnet.

Can’t wait for the next instalment of NDP Komedy Kapers!
