Price of gas is not set by the government. It is set by the market. Our gas has gone up in Canada but that is not Harper’s fault.

I don’t get your point. It just seems like a silly cheapshot.

frank the tank, you can imagine the ‘price of gas’ in canada would be when the NDP shuts down the oilsanda and close down all ports to incomong tankers carrying oil from foreign nations into canada. Yet those same NDP scream daily ‘THE PRICE OF GAS IS TOO HIGH, HOW CAN THE POOR PEOPLE AFFORD IT. Hypocrites.

frank the tank, The price of gas is also based on the value of the dollar and when Obama took power the CDN dollar was worth about 80 cents US. So the price in the US has gone up more than in Canada because of all the quantitative easing.

Canadians still pay more for gasoline than Americans.

    ex. 1 US Gallon = 3.79 Litres

    Ottawa ON price: $1.239/litre = $4.70/US gallon

    Syracuse NY price: $3.79/US gallon

As you can see from the example, Canadian gasoline prices are about 25% higher than US prices. (assumes currency parity)

The 25% higher price in Canada is due to provincial and federal taxes.

We don’t complain because we have been beaten into submission. Also, the price per litre doesn’t have the sticker shock of the gallon price, but a fill-up can cost $100.
