The Great Global Warming Swindle

I think many of you know my feelings about climate change. If not, my view is that climate changing is called “weather”. It occurs daily, it occurs weekly, it occurs seasonally, it occurs annually, and if you take it out far enough it occurs on the scale of thousands or tens of thousands of years.

There will never be the Tsunami because ice melts. There will never be a Tsunami because of the expansion of ocean water. There will never be a desert forming in a day or a week.

If you took the time to watch Al Gore’s Mockumentary, An Inconvenient Truth, then you really owe it to yourself to watch The Great Global Warming Swindle.

You will be shocked at some of the things Al Gore and his movie fail to discuss.

One item that sticks out clearly is the fact that numerous scientists have chosen to leave the IPCC and asked to have their names removed from the report. But barring the threat of legal action, the IPCC feels people who provided input, whether supportive or contradictive, are part of the committee, and as such should be listed.

Another point that really makes you think twice are some comments made right at the end of this documentary. They are based on the fact that we are now pushing the most expensive (wind and solar) energies on the underdeveloped third world. It actually brought a tear to my eye thinking of people with no electricity because we are not letting them burn coal or oil. When you think of American Democrats, you think of people who are supposed to fight for the rights of the underprivileged. Yet it is abundantly clear that Climate Change snake oil salesmen like Gore are out to keep the Third World in the dark.

I urge everyone to watch this movie and share it with friends.

H/T to A Dog Named Kyoto and a warm heart felt thank you to the BBC Channel 4. Click the play button below to watch the 75 minute show. It is well worth the time.

Just finished watching this. It’s incredible. I have otherwise intelligent friends that are caught up in the chicken little movement. It’s a sad thing to see.

This video should be mandatory viewing for all, just to see a little bit of the other side which is never shown.

This is one incredible documentary and you are correct – anyone who watched Al Gore’s movie owes it to themselves to watch this.

Just one thing – this was not produced by the BBC. It was Channel 4 in the U.K. which is as far as I can tell, an independent television network.

I can’t wait to see this on the CBC.

If only we could pressure CBC to air this, like they did Gore propaganda film. And all the schools should be forced to show it to the children. This second opinion,or opposing point of view is what makes this a free society.Only showing GORES propaganda scare movie and listening to SUZUKI,s verbal diarhia makes one wonder who is the head honcho behind this mascarade. And to think they gave gore an oscar for his piece of garbage is an outrage. They should have jailed him or at least put the shackles on him.

Why hasn’t someone started an online email petition to get Harper to act on this, say, by cutting of funding initiatives and informing the public about his views? Seriously, all you guys do is talk about how p*ssed you are, but you do nothing about it. Why does Harper get off so easily? Someone should put their money where their mouth is.

Because the msm would tear us apart for being DENIERS and then what happens, the libs get in with a majority.Until we get to the bottom of the corruption in the msm and who is behind it,we are spitting into the wind.Only way to get behind this sleaze is get a majority.Otherwise we have no power.Case in point the way the libs passed the Kyoto laws and they are not in power. We can talk all we want ,but until we get a majority and the power to do some real investigating,we can only spread the word and hope that enough of the undecided voters get involved and start seeing the truth behind the sleaze & lies that are part and parcel of most of the msm and the libs.

pdoff, I cannot speak for others but I’m working this one from the grassroot. I don’t depend on governments to take care of business. I’m spreading this documentary to as many people as I can get to watch it. I would rather they make an informed decision. So far, anyone who has seen it is shocked and dismayed by the massive disception.

Bert, even if the Conservatives get a majority, don’t look for great changes in the MSM. Trudeau had an adversarial relationship with the MSM throughout his reign as he had nothing but contempt for them.

Both sides of the political spectrum claim MSM bias. Reality is the MSM have their own impetus which defies political partisanship and that is economic. If they don’t attract attention of readers, they starve so they will do or say anything to grab eyes.

Well Mac i dont have a list of people or know a lot of people to e,mail this film to.Anyone i do contact on the street in my neighbourhood that i know are quite aware of my Conservative views and hatred of the Liberals,YES HATRED.I am 65 and have had to endure these lying BS,s for over 45 years of my voting life.I have never, ever had my vote count.I have always lived in a french riding and if they had a corpse running as a liberal, the corpse would be elected with a majority. So you see my problem.Other than e,mailing members of parliament who are already aware and newspaper reporters who dont reply, and radio and television who dont reply what else can be done other than hope for a majority .I am quite sure that one TV/Radio station will be gone in a hurry or at least taken over by a balance of new employees is the CBC.And that will improve Canada as a whole. How this institution ever got this kind of power to use 100% of programming to promote the Liberals is beyond me.If i was in power(dreaming here) funding would stop immediately and walking papers handed out to all the employees.

Don’t waste your energy hating them, Bert. They don’t deserve your passion.

Instead, focus on creating change. We live in a democracy and we have freedom of speech and expression, so use it! If you don’t like what the CBC is spewing, write to the CBC ombudsman and complain. If you don’t like how your MP is doing business, call him up and complain. It might not make any difference but then again, it might.

Join your local Conservative riding association and work for change. At 65, I hope you’re retired which would mean you have time for this. You might not change Canada overnight but too many people sit back and complain… not enough do something about it!

Great, now that you guys are super-smart from watching a video by someone who hasn’t published in over a decade, I suspect that everyone will now be challenging, say, Dr. John Holdren, to a debate. Then again, I bet not.

Have a look at the criticisms of the video people, and then do a little bit of research and look up the MAJOR problems with Ball’s sun cycle explanation. You guys are doing yourself a serious disservice by not educating yourselves on all sides of the issue.

And personally I hope you guys do convince Harper to give up on climate change. I hope he makes a public announcement so he can always be the idiotic PM that listened to the superior scientific and research skills of his blogging base over published, peer-reviewed researchers. pdoff is right, Harper is getting off easy; if he doesn’t believe the science then he’s a liar, plain and simple, and a vote whore. The agenda here is very clear: lie to get a majority, and then reverse course. Harper’s problem is that everybody knows he’s not serious, because he really ISN’T.

It should be made known that Carl Wunsch, the MIT oceanographer, is saying that the producer misrepresented him. It doesn’t get much worse than ‘diametrically opposite.’ This particular film maker has done this in the past. He cannot be trusted and his work concerning important matters like this should be ignored.

    http://ocean.mit.edu/~cwunsch/papersonline/channel4response

Here’s a quote from the above:

In the part of the “Swindle” film where I am describing the fact that the ocean tends to expel carbon dioxide where it is warm, and to absorb it where it is cold, my intent was to explain that warming the ocean could be dangerous—because it is such a gigantic reservoir of carbon. By its placement in the film, it appears that I am saying that since carbon dioxide exists in the ocean in such large quantities, human influence must not be very important—diametrically opposite to the point I was making—which is that global warming is both real and threatening in many
    different ways, some unexpected.

Adrian, you should read this post from Peter C. Glover:

It seems that GW alarmists don’t like it when freedom of speech is exercised and the mainstream media, for once, actually gives a platform to those of the world’s leading climate scientists who do not agree with the prevailing view constantly delivered in the mass media that purports to suggest a science consensus on clime where none really exists. In short, they didn’t like Martin Durkin’s ”The Great Global Warming Swindle. So let;s quickly review their chief complaints.

    1. Professor Carl Wunsch was “misrepresented”. Actually he wasn’t. He just thought he would be taking [part in a programme that was showing how complex and impossible it is to be clear about predictions. This of course does not put Prof. Wunsch in the alarmist camp at all but merely suggests he was misled about the nature of the programme – that is indeed regrettable and should not happen. Now set this instance against the fundamental fraud of the administrator’s at the UN who put the name of dissenting scientists on their IPCC reports. Which do you think is worse?

    2. They are complaining about the above (at 1) when, in fact, the complaint of those taking part in Durkin’s documentary have had to suffer years of not being able to gain a platform for their views at all to speak in any documentary or by having their work published in ‘science’ magazines. Bearing this in mind then, which of these amounts to ‘propaganda’, years of denying a voice to other views in countless doumentaries and news stories – or those who have been allowed a single programme to put their case? Take your time…no rush…

    3. Most important of all however, is the core point of the programme…that there is an entirely different – and much more obvious – cause for the small amount of global warming the earth has undergone. That is the clear complexity over the role of clouds in warming and cooling cycles and the role of solar activity as the chief cause which is the chief purpose of this documentary. The fact that they are picking holes in the minor issues and leaving the main issue entirely unanswered is highly revealing.

Wunsch was indeed misrepresented. In watching the film it appears that he supports the main point of the film. It’s true that he believes that some pro-global warming stories are garbage, but at the end of the day he believes that “climate change is real, a major threat, and almost surely has a major human-induced component.” That is obviously not how he was represented.

About point 2, nobody should feel sorry for scientists who are denied a voice. Scientists deny other scientists a voice via peer-review when research is unsound. Disagreement on the implications of research (ie that the world is/isn’t warming) is not grounds for rejecting a scientific paper.

Point 3 I cannot comment on because I stopped watching the film when there was an attempt to discredit the CO2 and temperature relationship by stating that CO2 lags behind by 800 years. This is where the film completely fell apart for me. You can’t ignore the fact that throughout recorded history CO2 and temperature are closely correlated. Now CO2 is through the roof. Will temperature remain constant while CO goes off the scale, or will they continue to be correlated as they have always been? Who knows for sure. But I really think we are fools if we don’t consider the possibility that something that we have always known to be true will continue to be true instead of crossing our fingers and hoping for something that has never happened before to save us.

Wunsch talked about a great deal more than just the carbon dioxide cycles of the ocean. Did you miss all of his other points or is your mind so firmly made up that his other points were irrelevant?

Adrian (#22) Your dismissal of the movie on point three is surprising. The movie itself states they are closely related.

The fact still remains that the CO2 rise LAGS the temperature. This is the whole point that Gore (and many others) continually avoid.

Your denial of it is surprisingly shortsighted.

Given the “memory” of the oceans, a lag makes sense to my way of thinking.

The other point regarding the troposphere not heating as quickly as the land which they described as a head scratcher isn’t much of a mystery. Our urbanization of land (ie: tree removal, more houses, more street & sidewalks, creeks redirected into drainage) is removing the natural cooling mechanisms of the earth.

SO instead of wasting time and resources trying to “fix” a problem which doesn’t exist (ie: CO2 emissions), let’s start addressing our housing practices, including retrofitting older houses for energy efficiency.

The 800 year lag is an interesting point. It’s one explanation, but it’s not the only explanation. Another explanation is that they drive each other. The lag doesn’t exclude this as a possibility, which is where the film really falls apart in my opinion. In this case it doesn’t matter who the instigator is. All that matters is that one of them is way up.

Think of it as like a flame war on the internet 😉

Nope, I’ve just verified that there is a hidden agenda in the Conservative base. Make jokes if you wish; it’s understandable, given that it was your foaming-at-the-mouth that gave the game away.

All the media needs is one instance of a hidden agenda, and they’ll remember all of the old ones that they forgot about. Clearly, Harper doesn’t actually believe in the importance of climate change legislation – ergo, he is either a dishonest vote whore selling out his principles for a majority, and/or he plans on reversing course when he gets a majority, thus hidden agenda.

    How now brown cow?
