{"id":418,"date":"2006-08-22T01:36:55","date_gmt":"2006-08-22T05:36:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/officiallyscrewed.com\/blog\/?p=418"},"modified":"2006-08-22T01:36:55","modified_gmt":"2006-08-22T05:36:55","slug":"tamil-tigers-busted-buying-way-off-terrorist-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/officiallyscrewed.com\/?p=418","title":{"rendered":"Tamil Tigers Busted Buying Way Off Terrorist List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2006\/US\/08\/21\/srilanka.terror\/index.html\">CNN is reporting<\/a> that 8 Tamil Tigers were arrested under a variety of charges after trying to buy their way off a terror list for a million dollars and also trying to buy surface to air missiles.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>NEW YORK (CNN) &#8212; Eight men have been charged with plotting to buy surface-to-air missiles for Sri Lanka&#8217;s Tamil Tiger rebels, U.S. federal prosecutors have announced.The men also are accused of plotting to bribe U.S. State Department officials into removing the Tamil Tiger group from a list of terrorist organizations and of trying to obtain classified information.<\/p>\n<p>All eight are charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, according to the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s office in New York.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>According to prosecutors, the men conspired to buy surface-to-air missiles from a black-market source in the United States. They also sought to have the group &#8212; formally known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam &#8212; removed from the U.S. list of terrorist organizations and obtain classified intelligence by bribing State Department officials.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The group was made up of Canadian and Sri Lankan nationals<\/strong>, and only one was living in the United States, said Bob Nardoza, a spokesman for Mauskopf&#8217;s office. The investigation was still going on, and more arrests were expected, Nardoza said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I chee wawa.  What&#8217;s funny about this is that the Liberals refused to put the Tamil Tigers on a terrorist list.
