{"id":404,"date":"2006-08-17T07:11:02","date_gmt":"2006-08-17T11:11:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/officiallyscrewed.com\/blog\/?p=404"},"modified":"2006-08-17T07:11:02","modified_gmt":"2006-08-17T11:11:02","slug":"unions-still-dont-get-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/officiallyscrewed.com\/?p=404","title":{"rendered":"Unions Still Don&#039;t Get It"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What kind of strangle hold do union bosses have on their members?<\/p>\n<p>Gerry Nicholls has a nice piece at the Brookstreet Blog on how the unions spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on NDP candidates last election without a peep coming from the employees on their opinions of which party should get the union financial support.<\/p>\n<p>Well this is now changing and that money will, inevitably, be <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ctv.ca\/servlet\/ArticleNews\/story\/CTVNews\/20060816\/caw_ndp_060816\/20060816?hub=Politics\">pumped into the Liberal party<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Hargrove told the convention in Vancouver that as long as he has member support, the CAW would not be part of a body that doesn&#8217;t respect one of the largest unions in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The outspoken labour leader says this doesn&#8217;t mean the CAW won&#8217;t support some New Democrat candidates, but overall the NDP will not get financing from the union.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Getting back to the stranglehold, I must point out that the only candidate other than Buzz Hargrove on the ballot has withdrawn his nomination and is now supporting <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/officiallyscrewed.com\/?p=21\">three faced Buzz<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What kind of strangle hold do union bosses have on their members?
