But in <a href=\"http:\/\/life.nationalpost.com\/2013\/02\/27\/museum-of-civilization-putting-the-christ-back-in-history-as-bc-and-ad-return\/\" target=\"_blank\">this article<\/a>, the reversal of this decision is discussed.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The museum, like many institutions that study history, some time ago dropped BC (for \u201cbefore Christ\u201d) and AD (for \u201canno Domini,\u201d the Latin phrase for \u201cin the year of the Lord\u201d) in describing dates. Instead, it has used CE (for \u201ccommon era\u201d) and BCE (before the common era). But no more.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>How screwed up is that?<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa went with the new terms but are reversing the decision for interactions with the public and only maintaining the BCE and CE terms for academic purposes. \u00a0Why even bother?<\/p>\n<p>The best quote to describe this was <a href=\"http:\/\/fullcomment.nationalpost.com\/2013\/02\/27\/kelly-mcparland-ottawa-museum-embraces-common-sense-at-risk-of-inflaming-human-rights-zealots\/\" target=\"_blank\">made by Kelly McParland<\/a>, who said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s my opinion that the museum is playing with fire. Maybe that\u2019s why they\u2019re changing their own name from Canadian Museum of Civilization to the Canadian Museum of History.
