We should never negotiate with terrorists. Yet it looks like the Liberal Charest government in Quebec has done so.
Student leaders and the provincial government reached an agreement over tuition costs in principle on Saturday a day after violent protests left two men critically injured and one of them partially blind.
Tens of thousands of students have been on strike for more than 80 days since the government announced it was going to increase tuition by $1,625 or 75%.
A 20-something female died late Saturday afternoon of what authorities are calling a “medical emergency” after she stopped breathing in a tent at the Occupy Vancouver site.
The woman, whom Occupy participants were calling “Ashley” was found unresponsive by Occupy’s medical team around 4:30 p.m. and was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The death, following an overdose at the site Thursday, prompted Mayor Gregor Robertson to say there is an urgent need to shut down the site due to “life safety” issues.
Exhibit C. To the villainy-of-the-rich theme emanating from Washington, a child is born: Occupy Wall Street. Starbucks-sipping, Levi’s-clad, iPhone-clutching protesters denounce corporate America even as they weep for Steve Jobs, corporate titan, billionaire eight times over.
These indignant indolents saddled with their $50,000 student loans and English degrees have decided that their lack of gainful employment is rooted in the malice of the millionaires on whose homes they are now marching — to the applause of Democrats suffering acute Tea Party envy and now salivating at the energy these big-government anarchists will presumably give their cause.
Except that the real Tea Party actually had a program — less government, less regulation, less taxation, less debt. What’s the Occupy Wall Street program? Eat the rich.
Soros and the protesters deny any connection. But Reuters did find indirect financial links between Soros and Adbusters, an anti-capitalist group in Canada which started the protests with an inventive marketing campaign aimed at sparking an Arab Spring type uprising against Wall Street. Moreover, Soros and the protesters share some ideological ground.
So what do you think? One of Barack Obama’s biggest supporters is George Soros, who is linked to the Tides Foundation. The Tides Foundation in turn backs so many smaller left wing organizations that are out there garnering support from and giving it to the Flea Party. In turn, the Flea Party is now protesting big Wall Street types. Did you know that George Soros makes all his money from running his massive hedge fund? i.e. he is a Wall Stree type.
I remember living in Toronto and watching The Wall at The Wall during a lightning storm back in the summer of 1990. The song was so representative of the Berlin Wall that had fallen some 8 months earlier. But since the day Reagan told Gorbachev to tear down the wall, it has also come to symbolize freedom and breaking free of political bonds. And in 2010 it is once again turning into an anthem thanks to the sons of Iranian immigrants living in Canada.
Blurred Vision is their name and below is a link to a song that is quickly gaining an underground cult following. According to FoxNews, Roger Waters has given this song his full blessing as he has been an outspoken critic of Iran’s human rights policies.
Call me crazy but I am a wee bit miffed this morning. I am as much a conservative as any other and I have a “get tough on crime attitude”.
But this morning on Canada AM, I heard the head of security for the Vancouver 2010 games say that they were setting up “free speech zones”.
Excuse me??? To paraphrase an American college student I heard quote a few months ago… But do you have a map? You see that big landmass between the USA and the Arctic Ocean? The one that goes from the Atlantic to the Pacific? THAT’S my “free speech zone”.
This morning he is raving mad and he has a right to be. The leftist mayor of Toronto, David Miller, is calling for Toronto’s firefighters, police, and ambulance services to remove the “We support our troops” magnetic decals off of the cities vehicles.
However, just a few short days ago, the mayor, himself, raised the rainbow flag to kick off Toronto’s Gay Pride parade.
Lowell Green is calling for an immediate boycott of Toronto and I, for one, am joining him.
What I find most ironic about the mayor’s stand is that it was the military that was called in to dig the Big Smoke out of a blizzard back in the days of mayor Lastman.
I encourage Canadians out there to join this boycott until mayor Miller comes to his senses and I encourage everyone to email the mayor at firstname.lastname@example.org and let them know that if they continue to insult our troops, we are giving up on this modern day Sodom and Gomorrah.
